  2. met someone while out this morning he mentioned he had shot a munty earlier and was waiting on a mate to turn up with his dog to track it down as he couldnt find it in the heavy cover. he showed me the rough area so sent my busher in, it wasnt long before he found it so all good

  4. im just saying the pups 5 month old,its no where near the point where you need to be concerned and start to come up with ideas or methods just yet to get it to enter cover other than getting it out.if i was concerned id be getting it out ferreting, but im not lol
  5. i guess it was about time someone had to say it lol

hope it gets the home it needs, anything to do with sibling rivalry?
  8. Why forget the dummy? It's a great training aid, mental stimulation for the pup, builds the bond between man and dog, gets it entering cover willingly, gets it retrieving. List is endless.did this method work for you then?,not one lad I know with decent bushers has needed to adopt this method to encourage entering cover,I'd not worry about trying to say the right thing I'd just be getting it out every day, they ain't all smashing cover at 5 month he got plenty time yet for it to come good

  10. Forget the dummy, its not rocket science bringing on a busher, its just a pup keep getting it out every day where there's plenty rabbits, won't take long for the penny to drop, when it does be no stopping it atb

i liked him soon as i see him in the flesh,he a little cracker good job i never wanted two from the litter lol,atb with him
  12. i mentioned it on my thread because i bought a busher many years ago that was fit for feck all,it had been bought on by continually letting it follow an older dog,not a mistake i intend to make with my own dogs, although it may not be common or the dog just never had what it took to be a competant busher who knows not a chance im willing to take. i want all my bushers to be more than capable of working alone as well as part of a pack,of course the pup gets to run cover with the older dogs it helps put gear in front of the pup getting it switched on but it would struggle to keep up most of t

been having plenty one on one time with the pup lately sometimes its easy if you got a little pack to continually just let them tag along picking it up from the others but iv seen bad results from doing this few times over the years you can end up with a busher that is nothing more than a follower of a good dog and pretty much useless on its own, she worked this little nettle bed up dont seem to bother her at all and put a rabbit out the back, good reaction from her knowing she was onto something, coming along well i reckon less than 5 month old. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMDvjfQsD
  14. theres a lad sells them seen them advertised in the lurcher section about £35 i think but cant remember his name but highly recommended apparently
  15. must be common with them whip/greys,lad i knew had one i wanted to see run,so we had a night out, first slip it was off like a fecking rocket...... it never ran another, killed itself hitting a fence that was the end of that,to fecking quick for its own good
  16. Many of my bushers, over many generations, wailed like banshees with lurcher pups in attendance,it never once encouraged the lurchers to give voice.A mute busher is far less capable of encouraging a lurchers interest,or a guns.I find that reluctant sounders are better encouraged when they are over faced in the pursuit of their quarry, the odd hare as an habit of making a mute mutt holler. funny you should say that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNqBeMQFVPI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBB5UB6F4kk all i need now is a decent lurcher to help her out
