  1. ah, but the hmr will take vermin out at a much greater range. Agree with Deker on this one; they are different tools for different purposes. I value them both. That said, if i could have only one, it would be the .22lr. Duncan.
  2. Nope, I'm more of a "s0d-it, I've got six more bottles in the cupboard kind of guy". John
  3. Thanks again Paulus I took it out this am with a different scope on it and fairly low mounts. I put 60 rounds through it at various ranges and found I can pretty much just put the cross hairs straight on a 1 inch kill zone and not have to hold over/under fro 15 to 70 yards! I'm getting used to the trigger as is and only occasionally pull a shot (off to the left a bit) when I'm not concentrating so the trigger is becoming less of an issue, and certainly not urgent. 1 inch group or less at 75 yards - incredibly happy!!!! D.
  4. I can recommend some good training programs for any members who could do with toning up a bit or shedding a few pounds PS has anyone else noticed its only fat blokes who wear shorts in winter?
  5. Until they spot you stalking them - then they belie their gaudy plumage and do a veritable scarlet pimpernel on you! To be fair, I've dropped more with my trusty air rifle than with my shotgun, and delicious they taste too.
  6. prefer to shoot the feckers myself
  7. from my experience, personally, I wouldn't bother. D.
  8. a side-line, but yes TX's do get under your skin moley
  9. Give 'em a break - most of them are trying to reduce masturbation time
  10. I thought the HW95K I had was a stunner and very accurate - it accounted for freezer-fulls of rabbit!
  11. Still waiting for a certain curry-haters suggestion for a good meal ?
  12. It doesn't seem to mention the general license -collared doves were on it last i looked!
  13. Me too, toads as well. They make me feel sick. Anything else I can handle- heights, snakes, rats, spiders etc etc
  14. last time I saw a face like that, it was sniffing bags at the airport.
  15. Good to hear your verdict on the CZ 511 Dekers For once I may have made a good, rash purchase!
  16. Thanks Paulus. I just googled him but can only find son of Chuck Norris - any details for him? Many thanks Duncan.
  17. Hi Ant, it was a purely opportunistic purchase! I had in mind I fancied a semi and the CZ just happened to be in stock. I've not heard of a case catcher for them which it could probably do with, as even in daytime target practise, it can be very hard to account for all of the spent cases. My landowners don't seem to mind though, especially when vermin gets scarcer on their land. Actually, I think it is a fairly handsome little rifle considering it is a vermin tool. Even the beech stock has a bit of figuring to it so I think it represents massively good vfm. I've now removed the front and r
  18. CA this year, but BASC next- I think they do more for shooting and country sports generally and have a sharper legal department. D.
  19. Just been googling - most say that its tricky to lighten the trigger. If you grind too much off the rotating cam it goes fully auto and empties the 8 shot mag in about half a second! With a dodgy scope (now replaced) I was getting a half to 3/4 inch group @ 50 yards; almost one hole groups with a bolt action to compare it to. Easily accurate enough out to 60 yards for boshing bunnies and now I have a better (unbroken) scope on it we'll see. But for more than 60 yards I have the HMR anyway. With RWS subs, it cycles as fast as you can pull the trigger (which can be expensive fun!) Actually,
  20. It seems like the govt has, for once, seen sense in almost all areas. Thank god!! Sigh of relief
