  1. The two micro hobs are gone. Still have the Jill and two regular hobs left.
  2. I have just put up an advert to clear the last of my kits, a couple of which I have decided not to keep as I have my hands full already with my 4 adults and the 3 I have decided to hang on to from my litters. Have a look at the post gents and let me know if you are interested. There are a couple of very small hobs up for grabs, have a look at the photos. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/298249-kits-jill-and-hobs-in-kent/ Pat
  3. There is one Jill left now as I wanted to keep her but decided I just don't have the room for too many. There are Four Hobs on offer as again I am keeping two but wanted to keep more originally. There are two very small (Micro) Hobs and two regular size fellas. They are worker to worker bred with each parent having a few seasons behind them. Fed on mince, chicken and a little Alpha to get them used to dry food too. All handled daily but need more individual attention from new owners. Really lovely Kits, should do well out in the field. I am based in Medway, Please PM me for further details o
  4. Truly lovely pups mate, glad it has all settled down and they are well.
  5. I was hoping this thread would disappear as I think I may have got a little bit mixed up I was asking my wife about the marks on the kids clothes and she looked at me like I was mental, although she remembers moaning about their scent being really strong on us when in season earlier in the year. She said the staining on their clothes was nothing to do with the ferrets if we are talking about the same thing, I have got it mixed up with another incident not ferret related at all. A lot of the reason they were extra smelly and oily though was probably down to me supplementing their diet with the
  6. September to Feb-March for me. As the other posts say though the climate is changing and affecting the wildlife in this country more than ever before now. With the wet winters a lot of the warrens are flooded right through until late spring so I don't ever get a chance to ferret them now as either the rabbits have moved off or the risk of my ferrets drowning is just to high but when I find a warren off of the peaty ground there are often babies or pregnant does well in to or well before the season ends. I suppose we just have to approach each season differently now.
  7. Don't be stupid Gaz, you will need to double up the chicken if its deer your after. lol. Should be fine single handed on Charlie though
  8. Never had that Same here never had that my mind was racing ahead though Sorry chaps, I didn't write it correctly at all. I was running out the door to the gym when I spotted the thread and didn't read my post back to myself before I posted it. lol
  9. Also, the Hob we had here last year (now returned) was fine until in full season mode and I was the only one to be able to handle him comfortably. Do you fellas find that your Hobs are far more aggressive in the summer months?
  10. Cheers onthehunt, yeah they roll in their p*ss areas but not just hobs I have had the Jills doing it also unless that is the hobs rolling about with them and rubbing up on them, I imagine to make their scent strongest! When you pick them up and handle them they can leave a greasy stain which is slightly off colour and the musk is really hard to wash off.
  11. I am keeping a couple of Hobs from recent litters, one will stay in tact for future breeding and the other is going to get the snip. It is around £50 for the op and as I keep six Jills he will earn his keep and save me money from spending out on Jill jabs next season alone. Then I should be able to get years of service from him saving me a fortune over his lifetime. Also, bringing them out of season means the Jills can be handled year round by my kids and I without the worry of body fluids staining our clothes and me getting an earful over it.
  12. Thanks mate, hope they work well for you. Looking forward to doing a bit with you. Talk again soon. All the best Pat
  13. Whats the worry about the dog being placid especially if she is among your family(kids) better safe than sorry . I have 3 dogs 1 beddy whip 1st cross and 2 beddywhip/whippet lurchers and they are so placid with the kids and anyone else who comes to my place , but when they are out mooching or lamping they are a very different dog . one is quite old now in her twilight years and the other 2 are just comin into their second season they . were much like your dog sounds but have now grown into a pair of serious bunny bashers . and game as anything so be patient and your dog will come good . C
  14. You are right mate, I don't have any experienced dogs around me at the moment. I have had an offer who I will be replying to shortly.
  15. Comparing a lurcher to a terrier say no more! This dogs a whippet x not a fukin bull x I wasn't comparing ,.....I was using it as an example of terriers being slow too mature ,not entering , being playful its the same princible ,.........some will go early some wont.......I didn't realise the lad not long had the dog ,.........well that explains a lot more and people who been in the game will know the crack ...........its probably been in a kennel most of its life and is very slow due to its shite past............I thought the pup been out mooching with the beginning ,..........this exspl
  16. The former owner kept her back from the litter where she was very well looked after by a knowledgeable guy but he never showed her anything as he was involved in other things and couldn't find the time for both her and her mother. I got her at a year because of the last catastrophe my wife didn't want a young pup in the house, especially as my little boy is just starting to get about by himself. I live in Medway in Kent but most of my mates aren't really interested in hunting and don't get it at all, I pity them. lol. Between a terrier who has reverted back to not going to the toilet outside
  17. Thanks mate, not dissapointed just surprised. I have been unable to get a balance with my lurchers. My first lurcher DH/G X Whip a few years ago was a beautiful dog and showed great promise entering herself to a tree rat at around 6-7 months I think and went up against an adult fox at under a year which she put up herself at the local park! The problem was we couldnt get a handle on her, she destroyed our house and garden wouldnt respond to training and just never calmed down. Even experienced friends could do nothing with her and when my wife fell pregnant (and ill) it all became a bit much
  18. Thanks chaps, I think I am more worried that she lacks the minerials on game full stop, she seems to be a very placid dog and is very easy going at home but will put the terrier in its place when pushed. She wont even eat a barf diet! instead preferring to eat dry. She is a strange one. I think she has thrown to the whippet too much to be a fox dog and if that was my intention I would have gone for a bit of DH,Beddy or Bull to start with I just dont want her getting in a tangle and getting her A%*£ handed to her, especially the vet bills. Saying that her mother is a 1st X Beardie and backs aw
  19. Cheers BB, It is the first one I have shown her. I want to lamp and ferret with her and she will eventually come with me almost everywhere, my biggest permission has a massive amount of fox and there is no doubt she will come across plenty more in time. It would be nice to know she will not turn tail when she meets an adult head on.
  20. Cheers Duke, thats what my gut keeps telling me, as I know for sure either parent would have demolished it on the spot. If my patt or springer had of connected it would have been game over too.
  21. I must add that I am glad she didnt connect with the cub and the area is thought to be free of foxes in residence hence why all of my dogs were running loose. Pat
  22. Out for a yomp yesterday, my patt and springer were 30 meters in front playing with each other and genrally smashing through cover as they do! I noticed my beardie/grey X Whip had fallen behind, then heard an unusual bark from where I assumed her to be. Firstly I thought she had smashed herself up and the sphincter started to go, then I saw a brief flash as she and what I thought was a border terrier crossed across the path about 30-40 metres away. She then turned the animal towards me running next to it sort of boxing it but with little aggression I then realised it was a fox cub. The cub was
  23. Hi Guys, I have 4 Jills and 4 Hobs available, litters were bred for my personal use and future stock. Mostly light coloured/silver types, a few with slightly darker markings, really nice looking kits. They are ready from Saturday 17th Aug. Both Parents are well seasoned workers and very easy to handle. All kits handled daily by myself and the kids and fed on Chicken, pork and beef mince as well as the odd rabbit carcass, really bonny kits that should do you proud. I am not asking anything for them as long as they are going to be looked after and go to good working homes. I am based in Medway
  24. Possibly a reaction to a Bee sting, had a dog who got stung and they looked like they had been hit by a bus. Went down after a day or two. Keep us updated, all the best. Pat
  25. The baby is older than the terrier, so no worries there. In fact the Terrier adores my Son and they have a good relationship already. Cheers
