  1. i think alot of lads are dreaming on here. talking about lurchers doing it single when most of them can hardly do it doubled up. id love to know were all these TRUE single handed foxing dogs that can catch and kill no problem are.
  2. well add another 20 on to that for me digger..... and ill defo taake your word for it that the bitch is good...... after 2 years im sure you have seen a lot of stuff work.... atb in the breeding bud theres lads that have had terriers for 30 plus years and they know f**k all about terrier work. theres so called experienced terriermen that wouldnt know a good terrier probably because they have only ever seen shite.
  3. i wouldnt judge a dog by its time to ground but more by its performance when in ground. ive seen terriers in ground for 2-3 hours only to be 6 or 7 foot away from there quarry or to let stuff by just before you break in. also seen them crawling around all day through tubes after quarry and not getting a result. is a dog that takes longer to bottle up its game better than the one that does it straight away.
  4. ive seen 30 inch deerhounds tucking tail and letting fox go. and small whippet crosses getting stuck in really depends on the individual dog.
  5. the best terrier i have had to date was a nightmare to get travelling earths she just couldnt put it together. after a little patience an a few more outings it clicked with her and she was crazy for it never looked back or refused work after her first dig. pup out of this same bitch was the same difficult, to get travelling but clicked and has become an exceptional dog. some are just a bit slower to get going and some never will go. i bet there are alot of lads that would of put these dogs down but i knew what way they were bred and was given sound advice. but beware there is ALOT of shit terr
  6. lots of wheaten cross lurchers in ireland but not many good ones IMO. ive only seen one first cross bedlington over here think it was bred by heartbreak kennels but it was the real deal on toothed quarry. have seen a few wheaten crosses but none have stood out.
  7. could u explain that a little bit better for me i know wat ur trying to say but i dont see how he is in any more trouble than any other dog the physical size of the animal. if there rock hard and dont have the body mass they dont last long. depends on the quarry being worked to.
  8. went out for a farmer a couple of weeks ago and lost a good terrier. ground was bone dry and way to warm. broke through after about 40 mins and dog was well dead prob 15-20 mins. the tubes werent tight either. i shouldnt of listened to the farmer. keep the hard dogs in till it cools down.
  9. sounds like the dog is mad for work. shock collar works wonders for recall when used properly
  10. i think its got more to do with the quality of the stock used rather than the quantity IMO. theres alot of full bulls around that wont take much stick.
  11. blacknight. nice dog what way is he bred if you dont mind me asking
  12. an under shot jaw while not being desireable is not a serious fault IMO. there are far worse traits being carried by terrier strains such as spewing. i think breeding for apperance has messed up alot of strains
  13. last season i did all the pre dig checks, batterys full bellman&flint working etc put dog in and after about 5 mins the finder went beserk. couldnt find dog for about an hour and this earth was about 4 foot deep didnt help that dog was completely mute. i say i could find sounders without a finder but its very difficult to locate hard dogs. when we broke through to dog he was beside a rock and had broken the internals of the collar by shaking against the rock.
  14. bolio were some of the dogs used for ground work or just at end of dig and events. i had one of these crosses a few years ago and it was very game.
  15. i bought a terrier from a lad about 10 years ago that kept fox terriers for digging. looked well worked to. dont no if the man still has them but he swore by them
  16. with fat man on this. places destroyed by summer time hunters
  17. i no a lad that has a heartbreak bred dog that would of put any bull cross to shame.
