  1. at ten months the dog should be old enough to train what training have you done with him ? keep all your training fairly short and varied,stick to the basics, i have a two year old cocker and training is a pain i think more through boredom but when the season starts everything seems to fall into place, cockers, springers, sprockers no difference its what you put into them.
  2. try it in the passage of the house or ally way some where narrow so he can,nt get round you use a rolled up sock or a puppy training dummy, tennis balls keeps rolling then it becomes a game of chase !! which you do,nt want do,nt throw it too far a few feet in front of you to start, the main point to remember DO,NT OVER DO IT, spaniels get bored very quickly, how old is the dog if it,s only a pup then forget about the retrieving , and just let it be a puppy .

  11. hi matey, been growing like this for the last couple of years- spuds, garlic, peas,beetroot,sprouts,onions, all doing well so far, can,nt beat home grown.
  12. the two dogs get a whole kipper a piece every friday,
  13. a dog of that size only needs a cup full a day, this time of year it,s warm dogs can,nt be eating big portions so long as she is eating and drinking she is ok and forget about all these high protein dog foods. half decent dry food, ask your butcher for any bones /scraps, or morrison.s own brand fresh chicken wings £1.50 for 8 , four one night next night dry or what ever 4 the next, table scraps, not too much bone though .
  14. Yeah road kill of course. She is great on all aspects of her training, her recall is calss, as is every thing else, its just the scent I was not sure of, thanks for info. As this is my first springer I am learning at every step. do,nt worry mate it will come but make sure you have the stop whistle good and ready.
  15. socks sounds about right i,ve heard it said a few times keep away from ftch if your looking for working/beating cocker .

  18. lightly fry a couple of breasts in butter once the breasts are cooked remove add a glass of red wine clean the bottom of the pan of all them bits and flavours bring it to a low boil then let it reduce add a knob of butter , and serve, pan fried pigeon breast in red wine sauce lovely.
  19. what about the weight issue- i owned a border terrier a few years back nice sized bitch decided to get it spayed after a few months it started to gain weight, no matter how much excercise or how little food she always stayed bulky, a friend of mine has a border collie his wife runs every day with the dog he takes it out the week end with the mountain bike and still the dog does,nt lose any weight. i,ll watch this has i,m planning on getting a cocker bitch i own a cocker dog and can,nt decide wether to get the dog cut or the bitch .
