imo if a bull terrier or a collie can be so successful in a lurcher breeding when they are not hunting breeds then there is no reason why an out and out hunting dog cant be.........some breeds are bred in and then bred back out to get "raciness" in lurchers..... in sweden they use weimaraners alot for hunting shot deer, as not only can they hunt them they can hold them for the hunter while a hound type bays to bring the hunter in....... this video shows them hunting roe and they aint doing a bad job.......... if this type of animal was available then it might be worth a punt!! would

pre ban lamping a yapper in one field will alert any animal in half a mile and have it running for cover well before you even knew it was there............is it worth the hassle???

years ago i was given a young bitch and she was a yapper.... i listened to all the advice like "rest her up" "find her easy ones" "catch one, call it a night" etc etc did all that, took her out, still yapping lol after so long i gave her to a guy who went out in the day with a couple of spaniels and he couldnt care less if she yapped so all ended all good....... good luck...........
