  1. Start now.Just a few obstacles about 6" high between u and the pup.Call the pup over 2 u and reward him with a treat, dont go overboard with the praise.Gradually increase the height indoors and then venture out doors and start again. My dog is 27" and can jump/scramble onto the roof of a 6 ft shed, not a record breaker but good enough 4 me.
  2. Congratulations you have won a Darwin ,award.Bet the pup gave up on you ,on you, long before you on it?.
  3. sure look at the fun youd be missing fun?.Mixing with a bunch of macho-retards,Sounds great bro ,bring it on.
  4. GREAT looking pup.Yes take the pup with you ,when ferreting.Keep the pup on a leash and let the puppy and ferret play together and eat from the same dish, the pup will be put in it`s place by the ferret and things will be off 2 a good start. My dog carries the ferret by the scruff of the neck,no bother.
  5. IF i had a dog that was A1 .I`d keep quiet about it and therefore avoid the shoite that goes with ,the aforementioned.
  6. FFS How ,would you do,in a race against ,linford christie, whilst you were still in nursery.Give the dog a chance ,or perhaps a decent owner.
  7. I always, run on a slip.I decide ,when and what the dog chases.
  8. myxy ,is not a zoonosis infection ,i have fed any spare myxi rabbits to my dogs and on hard times,i have eaten them myself.
  9. IF possible ? shooting with an air rifle, then slipping the dog ,has worked in the past?.
  10. No dog is an expert at 14 months old .My first quarter bull/ greyhound had the turning circle of an oil tanker .I did lots of training ,with a tennis ball ,bouncing around the yard on a soft surface and she did slow down and this improved her strategy,on rabbits no end. However ;) you could muzzle the dog and let loose ,a few chickens .
  11. He has not ,lost his permission. so how can he ,get it back?.
  12. :bye: HA HA HA .Pure class ,could only happen with folks from Ashington.

  15. NOT quite mate you have to offer the offending branches ,back to their legal owner if the owner does not want them, then YOU have to dispose of the waste,if you dump them back on the farm, against the farmers wishes, then it`s flytipping and you`re in the wrong.
  16. Now days ,i only shoot 4 the pot :icon_eek:not pest control ,annihilation.I do not shoot any quarry within their breeding season .I have lost a few shoots because of this but it`s the way i feel about the issue. Not knocking anyone.
  17. horses, for courses mate I expect total obedience/commitment in any running dog that i have nurtered from a 8 week old pup .Collie in the mix 4 me every time ,whilst running as my first dog.
  18. NO I`d say it was obeying a basic command .So we should all let DOG chase DOLLY the sheep, just because he fancies it?. Now THAT is way off topic, stick breaking IS a basic command and stopping a dog chasing sheep is NO WAY in the same league as calling a dog of legitimate game, when most of the time you let it run and catch that game. OK not the best example .But any dog that you do not control is a liability in any given situation and the penalties could be severe.
  19. can easily be done. 1/4 collie is a good place to start. not as sensitive as a half cross and a little more forgiving of mistakes. you may have to adapt your training methods from what you have had before, especially if its gundogs etc. as a true working lurcher needs to be able to think far more for itself at times. At the end of the day what you talk about is basic obedience and that should be the starting point for the training of any dog spot on regards 1/4 and 1x, 1/4 collie will be a good dog to learn with . Of all my dogs ive had, i would say my 3/8 bull 5/8 grey Tod ,
