  1. Interesting that David So in other words what your saying, correct me if i am wrong here. A prospective candidate has to live within your certain catchment area with a 10k overlap of your base is that correct? He also has no means of finding out other than whats told him by the committee members etc if he will even shoot any deer , I read it that if he joins such an org he joins blind in hope that he will be instructed to participate in deer control should there be a need by the discretion of the committeee. What happens if he did join such an organizastion and there wasnt any pa
  2. Do you have a lot of members who actively participate in your group David ? Maybe you could send a list of the members to the original postee then he can contact them to see if its worth while involving in the DMG scheme. Thats what I would do Beddywhip likewise if applying for syndication membership. Cheers Stu
  3. There is still stalking available in syndication in Scotland for £500 region and less in some circumstances but would be members now need to have DSC2 or working up to it which seems to be a condition thats implaced by most forest enterprises on the lease holder. There are some who dont but not many and if SNH get there way it will become an insistance in Scotland although at the moment this criteria is being fought hard against by such shooting representative bodies like B.A.S.C etc personally I feel its only a matter of time and it will come,If you think I am being defeatist in my view , yo
  4. Personally I have had no connection with Deer Management groups , I understand the principal as to how they work ,were a group of individuals who become members are placed into a position to carry out a deer management service where such is needed by private individuals or forest enterprises. Most members of these groups pay a joining fee to be part of the group and in most cases the scheme works, however there are others that do not work. As Stated I am not involved in a DMG and neither do I have any wish to be. My advice would be to join a syndication with a good reputation with a good

  11. Wife went down to Lancaster this morning doing the New Year Sales She came home and said she had been in a furniture store and that she had got her eye on a new three piece suite. I said I had no objection to her keeping her eye on it as she wouldnt be getting her arse on it.
  12. Agree fully with your point of view ,I think both of us have done some muttering about it in the past , but realise that theres no going back . and it will come police will not grant a F.C for deer unless you are on the ladder. and something else in the future will come into play mark my words all stalkers will need to have access to a trained deer dog with the correct training certificates before you may be engaged in a lease with the forest companies along with first aid certificate or ATV handling ce rtificate or at least a designated person on the lease will need to be qualified ,there wil
  13. My advice for whats its worth you can all beat your gums and let your jowels blow as much as you like about the DMQ system but it isnt going to change the system one jot. There is no way its going to get recinded so that you dont have to have a qualification/piece of paper because it isnt gonna happen so you may as well resign yourselves to making the most of it and all bite your lip and express as many expletives as you can and just get on with it and try to complete it as least costly as you can , I look at it like this knocking your head trying to drive a 6" in nail into a tree hurts bu

  15. Darren The Extension isnt freeby the way , you do have to pay but everything isnt waisted, dont ask me how much as i dont know but an enquiry to DMQ would clear that one up mate. Cheers Stu
  16. Foxdropper there was no one worse than me for beating the no need to have paperwork drum and have been criticized for standing on my soap box banging it out good style and aint that the truth mate. Many years ago I was a volunteer wild life ranger helping out with deer control with the Then Wild life Control Management team for the EFG at Eskdalemuir under the direction of R.Rose senior whose expertise is sought in forest designation World wide in Deer Management and Wildlife Management generally I used to go up and help every other weekend and sometimes spent weeks assisting with the cul

  19. There are those nut sqeezers out there i must admit as in the past i found out to my cost , thats why i speak with a sqeeky voice Having said that there are also decent chaps out there who are prepared to help in the manner DMQ commitee try to promote the system. It isnt DMQ that are to blame as the system is fine its those individuals who charge for filling in the portfolio and dont proceed and administer it with good intentions that bring the system into disrepute. They see it as a cash cow and in all fairness DMQ dont make anything out of this whatsoever other than the administra
  20. Talking of which If any of you lads are still on the old blue portfolio and struggling getting a credible witness If you have your own ground etc if you pay me travelling expenses I will do it for nowt for you. Those that havent got there own ground I still could sort something out for you with my stalking partner but he charges but no cost for filling in the portfolio hes also a assesor in the DMQ system so can act on the new portfolios as well. He also charges for his travelling and out of pocket expenses Also if you contact Mark Howard here who is a friend of mine I am sure
  21. News on me that one Billy where have you got that information from? If you dont complete your DSC2 in the 3 years you can apply for an extention and carry the modules through . Theres nothing that says your DSC1 is valuless if you dont complete within the 3 years. what about those who dont imediately apply for a portfolio and obtain a few years experience before taking it on. Regards Stu
  22. On a dry day you cant beat a decent pair of Barbour moleskins and keep a pair of slip on chaps in your Deer Sack in case the weather turns nasty. Even if moleskins get a little damp they dry out fast and as far as I know no other material is as quite as Moleskin cotton and i have tried everything on the market and that includes this modern peach cloth material . Decent Natt Jackerly understrides and a pair of decent leather laced boots with cotton waxed gaitors and you have the best combination possible for any stalking venue Cheers Stu
