Moon phases and how it effects stalking
Caprelous replied to Caprelous's topic in Deer Stalking & Management
Thank you I will always help and educate those who wish to gain knowledge freely as thats how we all learn by whats taught to us, that along with the mistakes we make along the way makes us more experienced, and believe me I have made some, If I can pass on those skills and knowledge all you need to do is ask. I might not know the answer to every question but I will but do my best. Regards Stuart -

Moon phases and how it effects stalking
Caprelous replied to Caprelous's topic in Deer Stalking & Management
What your describing is quite common in areas that have quite a lot of activity, people exercising dogs ,horseriders and bike riders or other forest activity they will resort to becoming more nocturnal feeding on darker nights as they feel more secure, but under normal circumstances in quite forest they will stand out under the moonlight and feed, Roe deer are very adaptable to adjust there lifestyle to suit their existence. Your right it will open a can of worms , and there are many thousand variables as to why I would disagree with you. Even if you think your doing everything correctly theres always something that stops you getting close in and at other times i have had them actually come right up to me not knowing i am there and within 6ft and i am not joking WILF but thats the name of the game, sometimes you cant get 500yds from them if conditions are against you, all it needs is a pigeon clattering out of a stand of trees thats seen you 800 yds away or an unseen pheasant inadvertently crowing that you a -
Yep have you a contact?

Neither climbing roses, nor Russian vine is on the new schedule 9 invasive species schedule. Although Virginia creeper is along with 35 other plant species. The new Scottish Wildlife £ Natural Environment bill came in in April 2011. It makes it illegal to plant any non-native plant in the wild in Scotland ! Exactly what constitutes a non native plant in Scotland I have yet to ascertain. What the hell have they been planting then in respect to Sika Spruce and all the other non native trees

Moon phases and how it effects stalking

You might, I certainly don't. But then I shower more frequently. Washing clothing in pure soap flakes and not using highly scented soap to wash yourself in along with refraining from such fancy smells such as aftershaves, pongy deodorants and smoking all help to keep the scent trail as low as possible. One tip I picked up from an American hunter friend was try not to sweat in your stalking kit. Take your outer layer off before doing anything that makes you sweat. If stalking into a high seat for instance pack your jacket in your roe sack and only put it on when you get to the seat. Al -
It c it certainly would help you if not just getting the feel and use and familiarizing yourself with a firearm it will help you with breathing and trigger and let off skills. Not sure where your nearest Rifle Club is but I suggest you contact N.S.R.A You will as a probationer be mentored for a short period until they see you being proficient to be left on your own Regards Stuart

Moon phases and how it effects stalking

With heavy winds or rain at any time WILF deer like all creatures showing enough nonse incl stalkers to get out of it In all honesty I would be waisting my time going out ,wind would be all over the place as well carrying my scent everyware ,human beings smell like the shit house door of a Fleetwood trawler to a deer as they have keen senses first kiff and they leg it inside the wood were they feel secure. -
Moon phases and how it effects stalking
Caprelous replied to Caprelous's topic in Deer Stalking & Management
Moon phases affects us considerably WILF In the quarters that are coming up to a full moon when the moon brightens the night deer will come out to feed rather than during daylight hours usually in a 4 hr feeding cycle then due to them feeding more at these times during the night time they lay up during daylight hours ruminating and rarely move , Hours of darkness in the later phases they feed more during the day so the advantage of seeing deer during those times are greater .obviously more productive in relation to the cull program. Regards Stu -
Good Point WILF not considered that. I will look into it.

There isnt one, not a realistic one anyway, Maybe darting and then injection by a vet and then the carcass disposed of by incineration. The owners /landowners have a legal responsibility for their well being and general health and habitat control, as far as i can see this lad is trying to do exactly that, how he achieves it is up to him. as long as his actions dont contravene any laws that is and from what I see of it he isnt and the person taking up the offer is accompanied whilst using an estate rifle in close proximity.

This offer is open to young persons who would like the opportunity to experience deerstalking in Dumfrieshire . No guarantees given that a successful stalk will take place as with any sporting situation. All we ask that if you should continue on a regular basis to accompany us on stalks you will assist in our Wild Life Habitat program in providing assistance in clearing rides , No charge will be made and it is hoped that the individuals chosen will enjoy the experience and continue in the sport. In a recent B.A.S.C appeal it was muted that they required young people introduced int

I cant see anything wrong in it the lad told what he was offering and he didnt dress it up, he made it quite clear it had nothing to do with stalking ability , and it was a cull situation on a captivated herd, Captivated herds need culling at certain times , and what better way to do it in a controlled situation, The person who takes up the offer would also benefit in other ways as i am sure the gentlemen making the offer will show the correct procedure in carrying out a gralloch which to a novice can be daunting task, being shown that procedure can only benefit their experience in the futu

Ok so As stated by me each species needs to be addressed individually . Thats why your question and poll is flawed Ok, so we've covered the bases in regards to roe. What about the other deer species? Well structure the question in a manner then that takes in the procedure for the different species of deer , your question related to Does and kids , If you had worded it different and included other species then each answer would have been different very ambiguous in its inference to say the least and the poll would need adapting as the answers given would not represent the full an

Its very hard german steel Martin containing exceptional high carbon and chromium used in the making of Kruap cut throat razors and in the use of cutting tools on lathes and scrapers in the re boring of and remanufacturing of engines. Exceptionally hard to work an edge on but once an edge has been obtain by careful grinding and quenching on each pass the final edge after working up on a old timer schrade only requires gentle stropping to maintain its cutting edge. Hope this answers your query Stu i have an old timer schrade its a grollaching knife... cant understand what you mean whe
