yea Joe i understand that and dont want you all thinking im being stupid... anyone who knows me knows i look after me animals..you guys have sorted out alot of problems for me in the past and im going to hostpital about my foot very soon so thought i would ask here since the fast response usually... other wise i would be at the vet. the thing thats confusing me is hes picked up a little bit in the past hour (not totally but had him in the run while cleaning out the hutch and he didnt just lay down.. he didnt bounce around either though) and is having a quick drink then going back to his b

Whats ADV and how do they get it? i havnt had them working in a while due to injoury (still!) a good couple of months.. (they do have the outside run).. i saw a rat in our garden for the first time ever about 2 weeks ago (when it snowed) if thats got something to do with it.... if so i will be sat there with the nutella on the path and the dog at the ready!

one of my hobs has gone really skinny.. when i went in this morning to feed them and give them water he didnt run out like normal so i looked in the bedding part and he was there.. obviously i just woke him up.. anyways i picked him up to check and he didnt budge a bit (all my ferrets.. they dont mind being picked up but they wriggle alot after about 20 seconds).. he just stayed still... he felt very skinny.. could feel and see his shoulders.. and his back end was very wobbely... i brought him in the house, he wasnt interested in any water.. so i mixed a tiny bit of milk with water.. he wasn

In the summer 2 of mine are identicle, in the winter there totally different.. and one of them goes the size of a bear! every time we see them we cant believe the change.. this years kits have gone massive compared to what im used to seeing them too its amazing
-
Feed mine once a night, Im pretty sure ferrets will only eat when there hungry rather than go "OHHH FOOD" and wolf it down, I dont feed them the same thing all the time for the simple fact that.. how would you like to eat mash tatie every single day!.. so mine get rabbit, pigeon, phesant, mince, chicken, turkey, fish, and alpha dry, the odd egg. I prefer pigeon and phesent in the winter due to the fact they use the feathers in the bed and theres never anything to take out. I spray often with flea and mite spray so theres no worries of that.. there all in great condition there fur is so

I just stick mine in the outside area I built.. theres ropes, swingy toy things, tubes, rocks, a tub with water in so they get plenty of excorcise and stimulation. That + working them + good diet = pretty good fit, in shape ferrets
-
another note, Ikea do these blue thin fleecy sheets, there massive and only £1, we use them for alot.. there great for the dogs too i always spray the hutches with the tic and flea stuff when theres pigeon or straw/hay in very often anyways and only ever had 1 tic.. which was not from the hutch anyways
-
Heh, I've noticed after them devouring a pigeon the feathers end up in the beds anyways so until a clean out i leave them there ... old t-shirts/towels/blankets.. shredded paper (misses works in a school so i get binbags full) hay from the shop usually. put an old sock around a pipe the kits love sleeping in that

I havnt been out at all since getting my cast off as i cant walk at all but i was getting out a bit up at my farms around carlton, Darlo and silksworth before getting it off and theres naff all mate, most of my mates (the ones who dont BS about getting 50 a night yet can never take ya) said its been a bad year for them too.. don't know if its been mixy or bad breeding or what but.. yea.. pretty naff even shooting.

I use the paste but as soon as that collar starts to move they freak out
-
I dunno about you guys but i have alot of trouble putting the collars on my ferrets.. they just move so much.. the adults arnt so bad now but still takes a while.. just wondering if there is any collars that clip instead of the belt style (like a backpack clipping system) that would fit the mk3 locating units... im so fed up of spending so long collaring up 4 ferrets.. they end up getting stressed and the longer it goes on the harder it becomes to fit them thanks

My misses has named mine.. I've never thought about it, ive always just said "the polecat" "the sandy" or "the more placid albino" ha. however there names are peaches and cream (the albinos... not that she can tell the difference) bear(sandy cos hes massive) and bandit (cos of the band across his eyes)... the stray we took in that just died she called fairy.. i have no idea why but she was sat cuddeling it last night saying "aww poor fairy" whilest i was in the kitchen.... strange one she is

R.I.P. Little stray ferret, curled up in a ball the exact same way I've been checking on it.. Time to dissinfect the hutch... Can't say I didn't try, Think it must of been an old ferret to be honest... had a better last couple of month than it would of if I hadn't of taken it in at least. On a side note, How long should I leave the hutch empty after using Jays Fluid before putting the other 2 back in?

Well i spent till about 11:30pm syringing it Honey and Milk slowly and keeping it warm, (was baltic last night) it took it with no problem, went in this morning, its made it through the night, ..and noticed its poo is still white which is making me very confused..HOWEVER, theres one runny brown poo and thats the only ferret in the hutch at the moment... I phoned the vets and unfortunatly the one closest, the vet is at the other practice. so i phoned them and they dont know why the poo would be white.. he leaves in half an hour and it would take longer than that to get to them so I'll have to

I've checked for runny nose, its fine, stool is normal (apart from what I mentioned before) theres no rash , Im gonna put the 4 other ferrets together tonight and leave this one on its own with more blanket to keep it warm as i cant keep it in the house (one terrier is broken to ferrets as i work him but the westie isn't) Going to the parents soon ill grab a syringe off them hopefully they have them and see how that works. thanks alot guys.. this is the first problem ive had. im not soft but the fact this ferret has been attacked, starved etc. then I work hard on it to keep it alive a

skin seems springy enough, it wont drink.. theres always fresh water... my main concern is, its very skinny, can feel all its bones... yet there is always food in the hutch i take very good care of my ferrets so im a bit confused on what could be the problem.. Maybe its just really old ferret, I wish i knew
-
well checked its gums, there nice and pink.. tried to give it some milk and honey, no interest, not hungry... the misses has it at the moment like and its stopped shaking while falling asleep in her arms
-
ok mate will keep an eye over the course of the day.. thanks

I couldnt tell you how old it is, at all, its an adult though.next door found it at the bottom of the garden, it had been attacked by something... I would say its just right temperature, Now that the colder nights are coming I put hay in the bedding area yesterday, plus theres 3 curled up together.. the other 2 ferrets in the same hutch are fine. It didnt touch any food this morning, even the treat paste it turned its nose up at. Its back end seems fine, infact i saw it lift its tail and do something.. its walking slowly, seemed a bit out of balance but that could of been it slipping off the l

Been a while since i posted due to hectic life however this needs answering.. Out of my 5 ferrets ive never had an ill one so I dont really know what to an ill ferret looks like.. I got a stray handed to me a short while ago, built it back up in stregnth as it was very weak, this morning my misses went out to open the shed and sort out the water, she shouted that there was only two of the 3 that are in the bottom hutch came out to see.. usually all 3 of them bolt up to the hutch door when the shed opens.... so i went in to check, and the stray was curled up in the bedding area, to be f
