  1. right have been on 1or 2 digs in my time with a few different terrier enthusiasts in a few different locations even wales but more of that when the nightmares have been cured,oh those poor sheep, right after the dig has been comleted nd the quarry dealt with a quick swig out the coke bottle or flask, now the task of back filling begins or does it i have seen men in the bottom of digs with bits of pipe stiks lumps of rock allsortes trying to rebuild what was the tube carrying out feats of engineering that puts the channel tunnel to shame ,some earths cant be repaired easily those pie crust 6inch
  2. bit of wind and quite overcast last night not perfect conditions but not aa total waste of effort a bit of a drive ut those big stubble fields in the outh can be a real freezer filler even with out a lamp a dog thatknows the job on these moon nights can fill a boot up sharpih.cumro instead of laying in bed dreaming of me,a bit weird by the way bet see a doctor ,get out and about all weather conditions have something to offer if your versatile and got a spine.:
  3. thanks for the invite very generous got a fair bit of pest control here on at moment if things slacken off may well take him up on that, off for a lamp now got a fair drive, nite nite all ,cumro you will have to tuck yourself in tonight ......bless
  4. just a quick post, got sme bntams a few months back kew rats would b attracted, got some six inch planks screwed them together,3ft lenghs ,only used 2 planks like a right angle, used the fence as the 3rd side of tunnel ,placed a fenn trap half way along tunnel securing trap chain to plank with nail, i never been into trapping much prefer the action of dog work ,but its good fun checking the traps evey morning, i know my set up isvery simple but ive had 5 rats so far .i think the rats would of been passing through anyway but i would rather try to control any problems before the occur,.
  5. i take it by the lack of defence for your chosen breed of terrier my experiances of jack russels must be widely excepted ,if your only answer is name calling and swearing i must be correct the trueth hurts and all that jazz ,never mind if i was an anti you would be my mate foxes are more than safe with so called hunting men like you walking the land.
  6. Here you go again!!you dont give up do you!!!is that all your good for is diss peoples comments??if your man enough to say these pathetic comments on this site im wandering wether you be man enough to say them face to face to a terrier man that only works russells??if you have nothing tidy to say please do everyone a favour a f@@k off!! are you the onlyrussel fan in the village what you going to do taffy slap me in the fave with a daffodil only giving my honest opinion on russels and generously sharing my experiances with them, you should be greatfull now get back to choir practice or leek
  7. if you have given him 18months mate i cant see why another 6 months till end of season wont hurt with the work rate picking up now something may click hes saved you a lot of grief on this dig by locating your bitch so hes earnt a bit of a reprieve, but you know what you want and what you expect its ok asking for opinions but i would imagine you have made up your mind what to do good luck with whatever route you follow.
  8. u do whet ever you think is right its your cash spend it on whatever you feel fit.
  9. seen many i havnt seen 1 good russel just a lot of rubbish and heard a lot of excuses but i woul think there just the job for rabbits
  10. ferret has more bottle than your average jack russel and russels dont like pushing into tight places like ferret does i think foxes bolt from russels out of sympathy or they get tired of their high pitch screams every time they think there closer than 6ft from a fox,i expect russel owning enthusiasts are very accustomed to digging to rabbits when out foxing but for a real rabbit bolter i think you may be better off going down the plummer terrir route.
  11. just to get 1 thing stright i do hope the bitch makes a quick and full recovery and yes any self respecting terrier man should backfill properly respect the land even if you have no permission to be there.
  12. all that judging and hunting and breeding time would of been better spent in the dog eqivalent of spec savers give us a clue tothe linesyour involved with so i can steer well clear ,ta love.
  13. dont neutre the dog neutering is a lazy way out, working the dog hard is is no good not for a 8 month old dog,a patient home with no kids and a sensable amount of time in the field with an understanding owner who in another 8 months can then run the legs off it and let its teeth get plenty of use,,neutering in my mind is only disfiguring and handy capping a dog only neutre if youou are prepred to keep the dog as it will be almost impossable to find it a working home once the op is done.
  14. more rubbish written about bull xs and patterdales than any other working dog breeds, who is arrogant enough to class another man as begginer for a start ,ive had a few bull xs and ive liked them all some were better than others but bought up with care and respect which all dogs deserve you wont have a problem ,if you research any breed hard enough you will find a rew nighmare examples,a lot of bull xs are worked loose on digs with terriers and they have proven bomb proof, i cant think of more highly charged situation for a lurcher to be in yet bullxs are the chosen breed by most terrier e
  15. love em love em love em, working terriers are the kings of all dogs and a working border is the icing on the cake ,patterdales and lakelands work to please themselves a border works to please you too, anybody with a working terrier is realy living the dream keep at it lads .
  16. i like them nearer or just after xmas they normaly a bit more mature then and with a of fire in them a terrier may shine on the early season stuff but later in the year or early next year thats exam times, beggars cant be choosers and pest control must be carried out but if you leave that fox another 3 months it will be able to tell you a lot more about the quality of your terrier jmho
  17. just got back from a l amping trip myself had a few runs from motor but walked a fair bit aswell dogs ran well freezer filling up with some nice joints, ran dogs over some pretty rough ground but they were sure footed and avoided most jarring footfalls and negotiated some ditches all fairly common stuff ,,will leave the falling down obvious obstacles to the more classy best bred stuff get enough excitement watching these dogs run my hert couldnt handle much more.
  18. not another dreamer with the best bred dog in the country ,if what you say is right about running dogs at night is right then the blame rests with you ,should be ashamedof yourself.
  19. Nice one but dont think the lurcher would of lasted long any way some obstacles cant be avoided fair enough but gaping holes in the ground are generaly spotted and missed by a dog other wise after anights lamping ditches and hedge bottoms would be littered with dead and injured running dogs jmho.
  20. very nice outing nice pics ,not much of a fan of the law myself and every oppurtunity for seeing dog work shiuld be taken whether thats a dig a coarse or a draw the old bill or powers that be may one day catch up and perhaps they wont but time definatly will catch up take your chances work your dogs as hard andas often as you can plenty of time for regrets when your dead.dont livefe as a slave to the law there is so much more to life.
  21. all adults on here think can make our own moral decisions but if moderating to these kinds of limits boosts the egos of failure ex pats and story bookwriters so be it .
  22. Well meant to be going for a lamp tommorow , been out of the dogs for a while few problems not for this forum to worry about, the lads I was going with have reminded me why I used to lamp and dig mainly on my own ,dont know if there lamp works ok dont know if the dogs are fit lol lol comedy of errors, think if you want a job done properly do it yourself.Prob get a bullx in the spring and see where it leads me.
  23. bogger can you name the line sstrain or breed of working terrier that has 0% bull terrier blood in it ?
