Holding A Dog Back Till 2 Or Older ??
rossthedog replied to whitefeet4190's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Working terriers are IMHO on the decline and by persevering with slow starters all you are doing is aiding that decline -
Any idea how to put hedgehogs off entering my tunnel traps

Holding A Dog Back Till 2 Or Older ??
rossthedog replied to whitefeet4190's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Depends what you mean by holding back, just to let a dog sit in a kennel for 2 years wouldn't be much cop,or do you mean let it work the simpler places straight forward type earths just to build its confidence, some dogs do need the thinking done for them like, foxdropper says standards must be kept and waiting forever for a dog to start isn't good enough I like borders but I expect even a border to be entered and making progress by 2 years of age. -
Plenty of lads picked up a £50 dog and treated it well and plenty of £500 pound dogs been dumped the week it they were bought never pays to generalise.

Call out time now the season never really seems to end with keepers farmers and landowners not wanting to give an inch and loose money -

What are the responsabilities of the mods, are they here to keep the good threads and posts alive and rolling in or is the purpose of the mods and this internet site a more commercial reason.
-
I think most lads delete there classifide threads more through being pissed off with all the bullshit trolls post on quite honest advertisements ,ive seen lads be targeted as antis or dog dealers or both and i and many others know nothing could be further from the trueth, a few on here seem to see themselves as on some holy dog saving crusade .
-
In other publication classifides you aren't open to abuse perhaps its just me but if you have to pay to use a service certain standards should be expected.
-
Why make the classifides a forum,to start a post you have to be a paying member yet you are still open to the childish stupid comments we have become acustomed to on every thread on this site.the rules are there price location etc ,I won't advertise dogs for sale never had to but to demand payment to be able to use classifides and then let those paying members get abuse is a bit rich ,the site is plagued by idiots and they ruin most threads but to pay for the privilage seems a bit rich, only paying members to advertise and comment on classifides rest can be done by pm.

A decent terrier man does the thinking for a game or hard dog, I ain't telling you what to do with your dog mate but a rest at the right time can give you and your dog more seasons in the field but only you can judge that.
