  1. Yeah like scrutchy said hide up about 4pm before they roost........as they come in pick em off but once they start comming in,in numbers be a little more restrained......woodys are very flighty as you know and a good spook could make them leave roost alltogether and move to another......I have a roost on one of my permissions that has 150-200 birds in one roost but if you leave it late and take 3-4 shots they move on to another roost and nights shooting is over......just spend some time looking at thier habits and im sure you will end up with a nice pie/pot for lunch.......i wont take more tha
  2. Welcome mate there are a few guys from your neck of the woods im sure you will be out plinking/hunting soon enough.....great bunch of lads on here mate
  3. Top write up there Alex.....seems to be the temp thats doing it.....few guys including myself have had small bags from good permissions due to the server cold methinks......me and tus managed just 4 on a permission with tons of rabbits on friday but it was -10 -13 by time we left. SP for write up mate
  4. Might seem a little odd but my drean pcp is And my dream springer again a little odd is Feel free to slate me but there ya go......im halfway to price of this pcp just another 2 or 3 months till i got the cash and the springer i have only ever found 2 and both were out of my price range at the time
  5. The stamp/logo will be on the metalwork mate and as for the stock it could be any shape...yours may well be a standard stock and this one in pic is a custom stock
  6. Hehehehe you mean this one? http://www.shooting.com.au/forum/index.php?/gallery/image/1068-fox-shoot-on-the-16-dec-2010-007jpg/
  7. It's a learning curve mate and you will get there
  8. By looking at the position of your hide it has hedges and a mound of summit behind it....this depending on wind direction will make for a unstable downwind site......as the hedges and the like will divert and displace the wind....if you were 15 feet from the warren/run im pretty sure bug's would have heard you moving and quite possibly smell you also....you should try make it atleast 10-15 meters/yards .....4.5 meters is just to close mate thier accute hearing and sence of smell is immence bud....im sure you will find a spot that give's you good distance but the chance of a humane KZ shot....5
  9. It does kinda stand out a bit there mole.....however if you leave it there for a while and let weather get to it to remove smells and so on im sure bug's and co will be quite happy to bound around the hide.....what range are you from the nearest run/warren?......Spend a good 5-6 hours in there watching and learning thier habbits and take plenty of coffee to keep warm im sure you will be getting some for the pot soon enough
  10. Use an oilstone mate...you can buy them from most good hardware stores
  11. When it comes to gutting any sharp knife is fine.......skinning takes less than 30 sec's....i tend to cut skin round neck then down to between front legs then hold bunny by the head and pull it off in one...
  12. Hey Brad if your groupings are ok at your zero range then there is no need to clean the inside of the barrel unless your changing pellets.
  13. Well done with the follow up Brad.....i had exactly the same thing on friday and had to dispatch fast with second shot.....you have great respect for your quarry and if this helps you improve then all the better mate......Keep it up your going to turn into a fine young shooter mate sp for write up and honesty
  14. Great write up and pic's sp for you
  15. Sounds like this Falcon FN12 Lighthunter .177....i could be wrong though mate http://i330.photobucket.com/albums/l408/Rimms1984/FN12001.jpg
  16. Hahaha i have seen this before but never tried it......i still end up with it all over me anyway.....i always seem to cut the cr@p sack when i open the bunny up and end up stinking for hours and hours of stomach internals lol...just ask tus on here he can vouch that im a messy gutter of rabbits hahahaha
  17. Not a great idea.......Just try and fire your spring rifle whilst it is resting on something solid.....it will do what simon has said and kick up.....as has been said a spring rilfe has 2 way recoil...this is why your leading hand holds the underneath of the rifle for stability and without it,ping upwards you go lol.
  18. Nice write up there Davy and cracking pictures........do you find the rabbits few and far between when the temp plummets?......i was wondering because we went out on friday and it was -10 when we left permission and we hardly seen any on a permission that has tons of rabbits SP for write up and Pic's
