Tail docking ,what is the correct length
BORDERSCOT replied to brown trout's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Taking off anything less than 1/3 on a patt looks silly in my opinion. Hate small tails. Like something to get a good solid hold of when need be. Having said that I once saw a litter of 6 pups docked by a clueless vet and they're all different lengths -

BORDERSCOT replied to lurcher-lad's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
And was it worth it - was it a good investment. And how have the dogs benefitted? -
This is an old post. If the pup was still with us mate he'd be around 21 months - think he was about 10 months when the photo was taken and 14 months when he died. Never give your heart to a dog to tear.. and all that... My lad, who was 13-years-old at the time had a steep and brutally sharp learning curve with this pup...shame as I really think he'd have made a nice dog. Take care.
-
Me too - cut them to length, sharpen, drill holes and round the tops and leave them to dry - all free and easily accessible. Last for years.

I keep mine indoors mate - could have them out but I know what's what when they are inside and no one is going to walk wi them. You come across as a nice lad. Just slow it all down and get to know your puppy and whatever info skycat sent you take it on board. All the best with the pup. Take care.

Hey mate - I really hope all works out with the pup. However, you are asking for advice and on the whole the advice is sound and sensible but you then seem to be ignoring it a little and doing your own thing. It's your pup so it's your call at the end of the day. You've had it little more then a week and despite suggestions that you spend that time getting its confidence, lead training etc - you've had it off the lead, smacked it and have introduced it to a fur dummy and have it amongst rabbits. To be honest mate I can see disaster written all over the place here. I hope I'm wrong and may well

They're also called butteries mate. My mother-in-law's from Aberdeen and when she visits home she fetches some back with her - my wife's a somewhere between a size 6/8 and seriously fit and health conscious and she can pack half a dozen away covered in butter and syrup...too rich for me tho...and for what it's worth I reckon you can't beat good black pudding...funnily enough some of the best I have had was eaten in England...probably made in Bangladesh tho eh???

"Personal insults" - if every thread with "personal insults" was pulled on this forum - there would hardly be anything to read some days!!!! There was once a post on this site from one halfwit asking another if he'd tried his bull x out on "Pakis" yet???? And that post was complained about and it remained online for everyone to read!!!!! I even had one mod having a pop (and a laugh) at me for highlighting a blatantly disgraceful racist comment!!!! I do agree tho that constructive criticism is the best way to go about it!!! Or better still write an article and send it off to the CMW. I

Ha ha - you're a laugh and a half eh???

I think Price would beat Fury no problem. He looked good last night - don't think I have seen Fury perform as convincingly in any of his bouts as Price did against Sexton. I reckon Price would stop Fury in 5. He'd be far too much for him.

Got a bitch from a local 'flapping' trainer in the 80s - I did intend to breed lurchers with her but she didn't ever come into season. Used her for two or three years alongside lurchers - she was the best of fun - totally mental - prey drive like you've never ever seen - if she saw it she killed it. Sadly tho this included sheep and other off limit species...killed foxes and tipped deer over for fun...but would've killed terriers in an instant...and couldn't jump for tuppence although she never ever realised this and took on walls, fences and allsorts with great enthusiasm...thus becoming a wa

BARBRA WOODHOUSE..SIT..STAY.
BORDERSCOT replied to ferret features's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
You've basically admitted you couldn't train your hair mate...Barbara Woodhouse type obedience is over-egging it a little but you can't beat a well-schooled obedient dog. Saying you don't want a dog to sit and stay etc is another way of saying you've failed to train it!!!! -
I like quiet dogs but have, in the past, had one or two that were a bit restless and yappy when tied up during a dig. I like to get pups out when they are young to see what's what and to take it all in but in those cases mentioned above I think they might've been too young and it became too much for them - so it was probably my fault. No matter how much you chided one of them - a strong cobby lakie dog - he got louder and louder and at times became a bit hysterical. Apart from that he was one of the best dogs I ever owned. My fault so I just put up with it. Funny though he was one of the quiet

I know one thing and that is that top, genuine and proper terriermen would be embarrassed to ask for 1,000 a pup - price for Borders is way out of hand. Granted - it's a different breed but I put a post up here over a year ago looking for a patt bitch pup and amongs loads of shysters and halfwits a couple of folk stood head and shoulders above the rest!!! Result was that in December last year I picked up a cracking 10 week old worker to worker choc pat bitch pup off the ferry from Ireland - and it cost me nothing. It was free/zilch/nada - only transport of £70 to pay. Some good guys on here.

Tell him to f**k off and tell him he's a nosey twat and lose the only premission you have - or learn very smartly that farmers can be amongst the most rude, contrary, ignorant folk you'll ever deal with and keep your permission. I make a large part of my living working for farmers and could write a book on their quirkiness...having said that though most are obliging, reliable, genuine and once you get to know them they'll do anything for you. Farmers get itchy backs too - try scratching a few(metaphorically of course) and you'll be surprised at the outcome. Take care mate.
-
Yeah - he's a nice strong pup - just over 13" tts and strong with it!
-
Here's two of mines - black dog is Nuttall bred and is 11 months old - he's as keen as you'll get - had to slow things down with this guy - keen to run before he could walk best sums him up! The choc bitch came from Ireland worker to worker - she's 8 months - fiery wee thing that'll fly to it when the time comes! Fingers crossed - and expecting good things from both this winter coming. All the best.

So true mate - I've seen dogs that have looked the part big time and when push comes to shove they just don't have it. You can't get shit out of a rocking horse I'm afraid.
-
No you wouldn't have "had that" Big Dave would you? You were bored and thought I'll just add a bullshit comment to this guy's genuine thread??? Didn't you??? guaranteed he would have had it if it was chocolate like the father why ask what colour it was it could be blue for me as long as its parents were good grafters You bet he would have - a good dog/horse can't be a bad colour eh? True saying that. I wouldn't give a fcuk if it was green/blue/yellow - it's what it's capable of that matters. Glad you got the pup away mate - all the best.

16 week old lurcher pup barking and yelping
BORDERSCOT replied to Dannyboy605's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
It's a dog mate. Just forget about it. Don't overthink it or make a big issue of it and enjoy your pup! -
Pair of pricks maybe - but they're gonna be richer pricks at the end of this...nothing wrong with a bit of out-of-the-ring fisticuffs to liven proceedings up and to crank up the financial side of things.. I was a big Mark Kaylor fan way back and his pre fight ding dong with Erroll Christie certainly added to the fight. I wonder where Kaylor and Christie are now - sure I read that Christie didn't have problems to seek but have never heard what Kaylor does nowadays. Anyone know??? And for what it's worth I reckon Chisora will stop Haye in 5!?!?!?!?

Always my favourite and the ultimate bell end THL comment......... Totally agree with this. I've travelled some serious distances in the past to view and then return to pick pups up - it's a bullshit excuse from folk who've nothing bettee to say!!!!
