    I have a few friends live this way have done ta many yrs some travel the waters others moored up ,some have got ta buy pieces of land adjacent ta canals ,fa the livestock and owned mooring ,inwish you luck sky cat ,plenty go at from the canal towpaths plenty good pickings both flesh and wild herbs garlic etc fruit in season etc a cur bred and a wee tyke will be just what's neede enough.try get up into the midland waters Shropshire Union then Trent canal getting up ta the moorlands plenty fodder and good folk along the ways.atb Bill
