  1. Exactly, it seems lurcher lads are an easy target maybe because we dont speak out enough looks to me like put the attention on some body else to take it off me, long dogs will be the sacrificial lamb in getting the repeal we can fight the corner for the sight dogs and the lurchers , just needs the support of the genuine working dog men who are up fr the graft and struggle wolves in sheep clothing if you like and at the time of the sacrificial lamb they will have an eye opener we need organising now.
  2. Time to get a grass roots lurcher/working dog association started asap get a small organising /fundraising group set up and get it into the C/A by association and put the man to the test of his word this is an ideal opportunity for all sections of the dog fraternity to do some thing positive , Good Email Rob and genuine response from Mr Bonner lets get it on.
  3. your using a steel knife and fork what about your carbon footprint to produce them should be hand made wooden cutlery and no chain saw to cut the trees down enjoy your meal you used electricity from fossil fuels to enable you to type that natural gas my apparatus lol one of Sugars originals
  4. your using a steel knife and fork what about your carbon footprint to produce them should be hand made wooden cutlery and no chain saw to cut the trees down enjoy your meal
  5. These lacs and antis are not confining their vicious activities to just terriers and running dogs, they will eventually target every country activity in fact every outdoor sporting activity that includes any animals. That is another imperative that makes a working dog site and associated links to other like minded groups the need of the hour so we get our version of our activities across to as wide a group of people as possible from every walk of life and age group.
  6. its 9-30PM I have just viewed the site statistics of activity in the last 30 minutes it roughly collates as follows 245 members 2200 guests this poll has generated approx 64 responses dont know about apathy , personally I would suggest it is pathetic, more lads involved with dogs ferrets birds need to come to the table and support the country activities or we will be consigned to the pages of history in the next few years, no doubt some will continue no matter what legislation is imposed but is that really acceptable or even wanted we are betraying generations of hunting history remember some
  7. I cant speak about other working dog lads but most of the coursing and running lads have moved on to the other sites. and onto f/b, some lads were a liability but plenty of good lads dont come on here now or pay only the odd visit. thats another reason to have an association site to gain as wide participation as possible and the link could be put up on other sites that would permit it.
  8. No comment lets just say some one in the same court building is well known in the coursing world.
  9. I know a magistrate that kept lurchers but still fined lads heavily for poaching.when they appeared before him. He told me its my job
  10. I have SACS membership mainly for the insurance cover . but far from providing a service i find they just dont respond to queries when aaked of them especially regarding working dogs and the programme of SACS for supporting England Wales and N/ireland regarding the repeal of the Hunting with dogs Act.if these other associations are of the same ilk as Sacs then we need a working dog association for providing us support with insurance and legal cover on a UK wide basis I am certain even the Eire lads would support it also.
  11. maybe not you mate and certainly not me. i use 2 fingers too. but there are some folk that could and with the support of others may do. why a website though we're sat here with a forum for the very thing we want to promote ? use this one. maybe a restricted area on here One of the reasons for a website dedicated to the working dogs is that it would not need to be private it could be an open public site to give as wide an audience as possible the information that appears to be lacking in the public domain. We no doubt would have the antis flooding on but we are not ashamed of our interests
  12. when the hunts and cousers are finished who will the antis and Lacs divert their attention to. The head below the parapet approach only works until the defences are breached
  13. One of the major problems on here posts and polls usually have a very short shelf life. That is the lack of trust and apathy that seems to infiltrate every attempt made to organise most things within a divided hunting community. Unfortunately my computer skills are very limited to my two index fingers otherwise I would do a website to get the ball rolling. I for one would be willing to pay into a purely working dog association that was across the board and equal representation for all sections.
  14. Politicians appear to be influenced by three things one is self promotion . secondly greed and thirdly public publicity . if the working dogs corner becomes vocal enough with the right publicity , campaign and numerical strength then it will pay dividends. Anything that comes easy isnt usually worth having so now whos up for the struggle relying on the national associations does not seem to be fitting the demands of the ordinary bloke whose voice appears to be ignored by the politicians and the country sports representative organisations, if I am mistaken some one show me where.
  15. Needs a thorough worming feeding up and taking of the owner with a good slap to him as payment.
  16. If its a working dog it will pick up a few scars in its working life dont think about it.
  17. The term lurcher work covers a wide spectrum of countryside and sporting activities. I personally dont think joe public has any great objections to lurcher work as most of them wouldnt know or understand what the majority of it entailed, rabbiting lamping field trials etc Where the problem lies again in my personal opinion is within the area of coursing particularly hare coursing, it is the predominant target of the anti cruelty lobby particularly the LACS and the RSPCA it began their campaign with all the negative publicity about the Wateloo leading to its banning, then clock forward and t
  18. Simple question , "did you buy the pup as a trained working dog?" Some pups will break cover naturally some need to be encouraged and run with other dogs to get into the mindset to do it. A pure saluki is primarily a sight hound and will focus spot and chase moving objects, and catch them thousands of years of breeding. You have bought a 10 months old saluki pup , so dont expect it to have been run and trained the way you want it to perform. The seller may or may not have worked it , you have no reason not to accept it when he says he has not as from your own post it is obvious the pup knows
  19. It seems no one has answered Your question, Giro re a lurcher club with influence, i wonder if not many are prepared to dip their toe into such... Giro and myself have discussed at great length the * need* for a high profile club, with its foot in the parlimentory door, YET....... we have a club with such influence , i rather think it would be great if we could ressurect the ALC, its not going to be like the old days with COURSING the main objective, since at this moment thus far its not permissable... Reading the new planned amendment , it will be.however, the lurcher world is so
  20. chicken foot soup with brown rice and tinned tomatoes twice a week
  21. Stick with it you will link up with some one to mentor you , few lads down your neck of the woods ATB
  22. One of the oldest sayings going "Being sold a pup" seriously same as the one you choose the pup dont let it choose you. These have been used by experienced men over the years this is where all the wise sayings come from "buy in haste repent at leisure," splitting hairs? life is a hard game to be in and benefits and pitfalls learnt from experience should be pointed out not sugar coated . just my opinion and experience learnt from people far more experienced than me,
  23. Be careful deserbred is on night maneuvers, he'll have ya he will know ive been when he wakes in the dawn with no hammock and canvas and all the veg gone out of his stew I will leave the meat probably not halal
  24. See some of the terrain salukis run in countries of origin you would have a rethink on them not being able to run the ground a lamping lurcher runs here,. they read land and conditions as well as quarry a good as any type of dog.
  25. if one, two or three lads go out running and it goes belly up its, tresspass in search of, or possibly Hunting with dogs each is prosecuted as an individual , if four or more are caught it can be construed as organised and could become serious criminal conspiracy thats why they like to catch lads coursing with pockets full of money it will happen in the not to distant future a possible test case. . So to put actually working your dogs into a club situation is risky now if you follow me, for instance SACS, will support you only if you are at an organised event with the qualification that you
