So how old is the dog? What age was when you got it? What have you done so far to teach it ferrets are off limits? All of my dogs are perfect with ferrets. I make a point of introducing them the day i get them in as pups and they are socialised with them everyday and they also come out ferreting from day one. The only problem i ever had was with an ex track greyhound. I even broke her to them eventually. This is my beddy whippet

When the rabbits start to get lamp shy its time for a filter. Iv used red, orange, blue and green and all of them work. If your lamping near to houses or roads a filter is a good idea cos it cuts down on glare which means it wont be so noticable.

I need to get rid of at least 6 foxes

Do you think he is as old as that? I dont. AED i honestly do believe your an anti and a prick. Antis trying to infiltrate the hunting fraternaty (as with any fake trying to infiltrate anyone) will and do try to creat as plausable as possible a cover story. It soesnt last long and soon starts to show the crack when they are questioned or challenged as you are finding out. Now f**k off back to LACS with your tail between your legs. -

and do what with it when he's caught it, he says only has an air gun use your brain, relocate it. Use your brain......dont post shit like this!!!!! Totally irrisponsible. Never mind the legallities. If you relocate them your just passing the problem onto somebody else to deal with. Foxes dont live on thin air. There will be a keeper somewhere nearby who doesnt want his pheasants killed. There will be a farmer somewhere nearby who doesnt want his sheep killed. There will be a kid somewhere who doesnt want to go up the garden one morning to find his pet rabbit scattered all over the p -

Aint that the truth, once he had my number and kept calling to try and sell me a pup. I think his tactic is to ware you down with long tedious calls, until you cave in and say YES i will have a pup, just to get shot of him  Struck me as a grade 'A' nutter, and this was confirmed s few years later when i met him in person at a show. You didnt make the mistake of trying to get a straight answer out of him did you?! Lol!

Make sure youve got planty of credit on your phone if your planning on calling him! Lol!

Ian i totally agree mate. I must admit though that im rather baffled by some of the threads that have NOT been removed. Right now there is one about what dog to get if i want to kill foxes. Theres one about is it ok for my dog to kill a cat as well. Iv not waded through reams and reams of threads to find these, there both on the first page! I feel that the mods and the admin do a sterling job on here, im just baffled by such inconsistencies.

Red i caught one last year that had scars all over its head, skull exposed, the lot that i reckon must be a mixi surviver.

Iv never heard of the gavvers letting tires down! Maybe in the olden days but not these days. Iv heard of keepers doing it tho and much worse besides. A place i know, the keepers are known for letting all four tires down, not just one. Antis are more likely to key it up or slash the tires.

Every dog iv ever had has come ferreting/ mooching/ walking with me and the rest of my pack from the minute iv got them. They are in my coat untill theyve had their jabs and then they get to watch from the ground and they learn from seeing what the others do and they get used to ferrets and they get used to the rabbits and the nets.

They do tend to be more nocturnal in the winter. You'll see a heck of a lot more with a lamp in the wee hours DM. I wish that were true mate! I lamp a lot BUT i have to lamp a lot to get the numbers i want. A couple of nights ago i went lamping. I went to 3 different places, had 7 runs and took 5 rabbits home. The numbers just aint here any more. Weve been hit HARD by mixy 4 years running and yes they bounce back but to see them at the numbers of 4 years ago seems like a f*****g fairytale these days. Someone said it goes in 7 year cycles, if that true weve got another 3 to go.
-
I know they bounce back i dont think its normal to be seeing it halfway through december! Its been shit here for a few years now. I hope the years of seeing 20 perfectly healthy rabbits during our 3 hour walks aint JUST memories. These days i consider myself lucky if i SEE 2!

I took my lot over to beaulieu for a walk last week. Its a good walk there, no roads, plenty of bushes and cover for them to sniff about in, the odd rabbit etc and best of all not to many people (as long as you dont stick to the tracks) and you can easliy make it a 3 hour walk. Well half an hour into the walk my beagle x jack follows his nose into a patch of gorse and i hear a squeel. Obviously a rabbit. I wonder how come it didnt bolt for the lurchers to take out? When i took it off him i found out why. Both eyes half closed with mixy! Pissed off to say the least. Iv just back from an

A decent dog will of ended a course or boxed the quary back into the field before it got to cover and if the quary DOES go through i would expect the dog to go through the hedge near where the quary went through, not stop and look for the nearest gate to jump over.

No mate, not long enough. Back to garden for a crap and thats it for 2 weeks. After that half hour tops per day lead walk only for 2 weeks and see how she goes. I use "no bute devils claw" to help with bruising and other internal muscle and tendon injuries. Its not instant but it certainly does help. Give 20 ml a day for 1 week. If she is in pain 1 asprin twice a day for a couple of days will help keep her comfortable untill the body can get started on healing.

Iv got a collie grey as well and i love him! He takes everything, is very intellegent and i cant fault him. The addition of saluki blood will increase stamina which would be a good idea for long nights lamping etc. Iv got a saluki whippet greyhound back to a whippet and iv got a pure saluki. Iv found my saluki lurcher can sometimes be a twat for coming back but a few "come here = a treat" sessions soon sorts that out. The pure saluki is perfect on his recall. I wouldnt listen to the knockers mate, its what you put into a dog and how good you are at working within a dogs individual quirks thats
