  1. Another spanner in the works for you ! Are you going to reload your own? Look at the calibre which is most common for your area. Like down here in Kent a .270 is hard to get factory ammo as it is not a common round here but up country very common but down here 223 22-250 243 are common as muck so a lot of choice and not too bad on price. I have a .222 and a .243 wssm. Now when I am out lamping I take the .243 as it is my favourite one. It is set up with 95gr ballistic silver tips. See Charlie put the cross hairs on him and the good old thud comes back, but there is a bloody mess to clear up af
  2. Elliott you are breaking the law SIGN your certificate At the end of the day what your FAO says goes. As he has told you what you can shoot with what calibre. May be not the best round for foxing but every body to there own. I like my .243 WSSM for foxing as it just makes a bloody great mess of them doesn't matter if they are 75 yards or 275 yards they are dead.
  3. A moderator is a personal choice. I have wild cat moderators as they are all interchangeable with there part except the calibre specific insert. They are handy if you have more than one gun. They are totally strippable to clean.
  4. Got a ruger 10/22 had it for donkey years and is still like a tack driver. Admittedly it seems to like CCi but s**t Happens. Personally CZ are the in thing at the moment, not my personal choice. Only magazine trouble I have had is when the moderator broke up inside sending bits into the magazine.
  5. Yep they are tight. I thought I had the wrong one but managed to get it through but it did cut into the fingers slightly
  6. Kent police are running seriously behind on their processing of the FAC. So be prepared for a long wait.
  7. The 527 is a Centerfire, it isn't a rimfire 452/453 or 455! I know !! I own it. I was pointing something out about how some makes of guns are not for all. Another mans poison is another mans medicine.
  8. It is all done to personal prefference. I have got a browning T bolt in 17 hmr with a wildcat whisper mod. Yes it does feel un natural in synthetic but having the second mag stored in butt is handy. The T bolt mechanism is nice and quick and easy to reload. Would i have another one? Er yes. CZ are the in gun it seems. Personal experience with them are i don't like them as i have a CZ 527 which spends more time in the cabinet. It is all done to what you want in your gun and your choice because every man is different in his needs.
  9. I have got a predator 12 fitted to my .243 WSSM and it is quite compared to what it was. It is more of a woosh sound now with abit of noise. The nice thing with predator silencers are you can alter the blast tube length on the back and you are able to strip it down to clean it.
  10. You must fire a warning shot first. Then if they still persue in coming towards you / attacking you then you are allowed to defend yourself with resondable force. But as the local rural policeman said shot them in the front no problems, if shot in back they are running away from you. So you are now not defending yourself but are the agressor now. Personally i would shoot first then ask questions later but i would have fired 2 shots. 1 warning next one making contact but not killing them just wounding them. A local person i know had defended himself from 4 pykes braking into his yard. He shot
  11. Got a wildcat predator 12 fitted to a 243. The good part about wildcat moderators are you can tailor them to your own requirements as you can change the blast tube length which goes over the barrel. The 4,8 or 12 is a refference to the number of baffles fitted etc. The down side is they are abit on the heavy and can unbalance the gun.
  12. Got a Ruger 10 22 it is an absolutely brilliant little rifle. It has had alot of rounds through it and has been in use for 20+ years. The only problem it suffered with was a round would stick in the magazine, but this had been caused by the moderator breaking up. It has had sub sonic and high velocity throught it and is accurate. Found it liked CCi more than any other make. Its like asking if you prefer an i phone or an android phone. Only you are the one who has to decide
  13. Ok I expected a small deviation but 8 inches at 20 yards??
  14. Hi there I'm having a problem with my BSA superstar, I purchased a Bisley moderator however it is throwing my pellets 8 inches to the right !!! I have tried taking it off and putting it back on but no difference, it's not cross threaded?? Should there be a washer/spacer or something or do you think it is a duff mod?? You advise will be most welcomed!!
  15. Fisheruk have you got any pics or links to that please???
  16. Found this on another forum Thanks for the response bill. It actually wasn't in my owners manual. I read every word and never found it in there. It is easy to do though. Once the trigger assembly is out you pull out the hair pin and slide the safety out. You then pull out the small pin and replace the small pin on the opposite side. Put the safety in backwards and put the hair pin on the opposite side. I'm really glad I didn't pay a gunsmith to do that. Lol. hope this might help!
  17. .243 wssm is my choice but depends on your area as in kent a .270 is less comonon so ammo cost more but 22.250 is very common and is cheaper to feed. Depends on your circumstances and if you are going to reload or buy ammo off the shelf.
  18. I normally buy the rounds by the box load eg 500 rounds of .22 and 250 for .17 HMR this means they are all from the same batch so dont have to keep checking zero. The quantity i am allowed to buy are .22 1000 .17HMR 1000 .222 100 .243 100 The amount i am allowed to hold are .22 1200 .17HMR 1200 .222 200 .243 200 You will find cuts down the amount of time you have to keep going and buying rounds. You will also use alot more of .22 and .17HMR and as you go up in the calibres you will use less as this is more specialist.
  19. If you have a Scats country store near you have a look in there got a RL7 extra deep and high with top locker for a good price. Another word of advice buy one that is bigger than you need. Think to the future when you want more guns and it won't cost as much in the long run.
  20. Try a rabbit opened up showing the intestines or some road kill in the trap that seemed to work for me in the larsen trap to get the call bird. Normally best time to trap them just as they start to pair up to start breeding as they are extremely territorial. Just say to the anti's do you like song birds ? Well they distroy the nests and kill the young bird just as they are about to start to leave the nest. Watched a Gold Finch bring her young up just got to the the point of full feather then the hyena of the sky attacked and killed the lot. Have seen 2 magpies hunt the hedge rows trying to flu
  21. Got a Winchester model 70 stealth II .243 WSSM heavy barrel then fitted with a predator 12 moderator absolutely love it. Only down side is the chuffing weight.
  22. Try a wildcat moderator for your .22 but do remember that a bolt action gun will be quiter than a semi auto. Have one fitted to a .17hmr slighty quiter than the saks moderator fitted on the .22 but all depends on your budget and how quick your rounds are. You will never stop the crack as they break the sound barrier. The bigger the bullet the bigger the crack
  23. Have a burris eliminator a nice piece of kit. Takes the guess work out of night shooting. It is amazing how far something is but how close you think it is. Like rabbits you think are 50 ish yards away are more closer to / 90 yards. My first shot with this scope was a fox at 261yards yep where i had aimed it had hit. Most of the shots taken are over 150 to 250 yards This scope is fitted to a winchester .243 WSSM. Another tip is not get a light which out ranges your gun. If out with the .22 only use a clulite CB2 then we have a better kill rate. These type of scopes work well work but can be a
  24. as title really has anyone got a chrono i can use/borrow etc to test a s/hand air rifle i just got and want to check the power before i go about changing the spring to either anther spring or a gas ram, im in canterbury Thanks in advance!!
  25. Either leave them on the edge of the wood for the Buzzards or leave them by the farmers tractor or put them on the dung pile. Depending where we are and whos land we are on.
