  5. my pup is 4 and half months old and already the fastest dog in the doggy playing field lol but i wouldnt let him run a rabbit as it is not worth ruining him. iv been tempted to tho as im off for another tour of afghan in march and so when i return hel be just over a year old so i will be missing a very important time for him (luckily my wife is better trainer than me) so id like to take him shooting with me with lamp and get him running the beam and retrieving shot rabbit back to me asap.im not sure if this is a good idea or not but il look forward to peoples opinion on this. a pup will g

  8. i did the same mate, had a stafford who was left in house while i worked and after alot of thinking i got a beddy whippet pup which i intent to work(just over 4 months at mo) and they are best mates, they both well behaved and listen, keep each other company as they just play and sleep all day. and now my stafford is taking a massive interest in rabbits which is being passed onto pup. dont regret it one bit! atb with your decision
  9. that cross will be more than capable for what you want mate
  10. take a look in "the range" as i got a coat today, they had coats for whippets and greyhounds.nice thick fleece with a weatherproof outer, only £13 or so and fits perfect.
  11. let my 14 wk old pup out to toilet 10 mins ago and a rocket from over the road went up poor bugger shat himself and legged it inside, that was the first hed heard,a few has gone up since and he dont seem overly bothered which im really glad about.

  15. as a teen(so pre ban) me and dad had a rambo bloodline beddy/grey and we were starting to introduce lamping rabbit at 10 months his first run he missed so off went the lamp..but he didnt return.heard a comotion other side of field(behind us) to find him tucking into fox.total accident but he lived for it. but obviously this is illegal now.....
  16. thanks im 79 kirkee bty. i could of knocked him down loads more as he hadnt a clue but i didnt want to totally take the piss.i told him £50 in the hand is better than a dusty air gun in a cuboard somewhere....he agreed lol. took it out other night for a few mins, first shot at a rabbit at 30 yards straight to the head.....made rabbit fajitas the following night...yum.
  17. i dont see the benefit on possibly ruining a young beddy whippet dog on a hare.sure theyd catch the odd ones if it on the dogs terms but a healthy grown hare in open land?.. more often than not youl just end up with a frustrated, fed up dog.same thing for charlies, yes thel do it and yes some love it but i think that a larger more specificaly bred dog would do this slightly easier than mentioned cross. everyone knows that beddywhippets make exellent rabbiting dogs(i have one, only pup) so enjoy it for what it is and if one pops up so be it but i personnally wouldnt go looking.. only my opinion.
