  1. thanks for everybodies advice,i finally settled on a boy...and an absolute cracker at that, full of beans and even tries to rag my stafford about.their like peas in a pod. picture will follow soon.thanks again
  2. i have also on 3 different occasions while with dad when younger.once walking our deerhounds on moore, and twice with our bedlington grey out lamping and one early morning walk(which he took after)... me and dad didnt say much about it to anyone as feared of being local clowns but then local police saw it in same area
  3. iv also seen a older couple goin at it in a graveyard at night while out with air rifle, they were on floor next to their car....naturally bein 14 years old i watched the whole thing and then shot his door for a bit of a laugh.
  4. wondering around the countryside in the dark... im sure there must be a few unusual things that the lamper has seen. young couple at it in fields, runaway criminals, big cats, weirdos ect ect.... any good stories out there?
  5. ok.iv tried looking for dog in south west also as im in plymouth but no joy.traveling to midland in morning to pick up my 3/4 whippet beddy pup.have a look on preloved.com as there seems to be some litters but further north. i had a 1st cross beddy greyhound a few years back when i was a lad, from rambo lines.good dog. courage of a lion, was walking him early morning in fields behind house which backs onto black mountain in wales and he spotted something at a distance,i saw what i can only describe as a large cat the size of a labrador!!(not saying it is a large cat, altho im 99%) and that was
  6. i know of beddy whippets in cardiff if thats any interest to you?
  7. no i havent got any that i will see if i can get any forwarded to me and then il post them
  8. my bro in law,bro got one(mouthful). shes a first cross, funny looking thing.whippet body with staff head... quick as you like but i find her a bit head heavy and seems to be abit out of balance because of this.very keen tho. couple of the litter mates are heavy built and taken the bull side, but they have had some unwanted attention from police saying they could be classed as "pitbull types".
  9. collie blood would certainly give it brain power, coat and good feet. id go for a broken coat 3/4 whippet/beddy myself.but thats just my opinion.
  10. pretty much any half decent working lurcher/longdog will catch you rabbits.but personally if your working smaller fields id use a smaller dog.grey/whippet will do the job good enuff as any but you may wanna think about something with good feet, coat etc.
  11. a bullgreyxrotti, sure its not a breed that pops into your head when you want a dog for a job but im pretty certain they will be far more usefull than some of those pathetic so called designer x breeds out there that cost a fortune. good luck to you and getting homes for the pups
  12. in afghanistan they have some breeds which looks like kangal and ovcharka(probly left from russian invasion) type dogs.they use them for dog fighting out there and some of them are lethal.iv watched them creep up on people and attack them first hand..hell i even shot one about to attack a kid.possably the toughest of all dog breeds.time bomb in the wrong hands, like many a breed i guess.
  13. if you got the overfinch you wouldnt need a dog to chase!.only slightly jealous
  14. hannah that pic of spider nose to nose with the rabbit is a cracker
  15. i was worried if i got a male there would be problems with dominance but since the staff is 2 a pup would not deem a threat and the pecking order will remain unchanged even when pup is fully grown.plus like bird said, they will be mates.
  16. thanks for everyones advice, looks like il be off to the vets to get the staffords knackers off so there is no accidents in the future.
  17. thanks, glad to know my dad doesnt allways talk crap lol
  18. hi,just wanting a bit of advise from more experienced lurchermen.im goin to see a litter of 6week old 3/4 beddy whippet this weekend but i am unsure on what to get,a dog or a bitch.i will be using in future mainly for ferreting and some daytime mooching on its own. iv also got a stafford male(dog friendly) whos just a pet but im sure he wouldnt take much convincing to get in those bushes. anyway iv been away from working dogs for a few years now since i was a kid,so my dad used to train and bring them on so this one will be my first so to speak. iv asked my dad and he says a bitch would
  19. i worked in nissan dealership.nissan is owned by renault now and renault are certainly not known for their reliability, however they did win best 4x4 a few years back, they drive nice,6 speed box on the 2.2 diesel(the only one worth considering!) so good on long journeys and they handle well(for a 4x4).there ok off road, but do not have a low ratio but does have electronics which helps traction.hope that helps
  20. just keep an eye out on that temp gauge as the headgasket is a major issue on the 2.5s.i loved my one(a rare manuel pajero) but within 6 months needed headgasket, headskimmed and then the bottom end went!.i would like another as i loved it but id defo go for 2.8 as they have much stronger engine, far more performance and pretty much the same cost to run.good luck with it tho!
