  1. thats weird sue, my 2 snipped ones will try each other, and any jills, but steer well clear of their dad (castrated)
  2. no, always use a locator, you'll get some on here, that dont use them, but if my ferts kill underground, i want to get the rabbit up, and continue getting more rabbits, within the day
  3. jills will be fine together, I have 2 mums, 1 dad (castrated), 3 daughters, 2 sons (vasectamised) all living together in a court
  4. missed ya ditch, pat on the back for irish-lurcher
  5. well they only have "kitts" if you breed them do a search on these pages, this question has been asked so many times before
  6. I bred two sisters last year, and kept them together, and Im glad I did, one went into labour a couple of days before the other, and I was in the court, she came out of the sleeping box, and went to the corner to have a crap, but it was infact giving birth, it was the sister that licked the sac off, and carried the kitt, back to the box, they had a total of 15 between the 2 of them, and spent most of the time, transferring all the babies from one to another sleeping box, had they not been together, I reckon I would have lost a few, the only downside was I couldent tell who's was who's
  7. are you sure its not just winter coat to summer coat? or my jills start losing hair around breeding time
  8. good pic's pat, nice to see Inan getting in the picture, and your right, it is the best section

    Basket And Poles

I would have said you have three options, either a 100yd'er and 25 a 75 and 50 2x 50 and a 25, of course the more seperate nets you make, the more poles are needed, I tend to use a pole, every 5yds so its easy to work out, use a white pole or a black one with coloured tape on the top, to give you a visual aid to the first pole, once they are in the net (bag) magnum do some decent fibreglass poles, you can order them in black or white, they come complete with rubber grommets (for attaching net to) and rubber tops for aid in pushing into ground, if you order more than 10, they cost jus
  16. gutting is fine, but dont cook them
  17. its like, how longs a bit of string... Im sure you'll get a few more digs, but that aint a bad thing, half the fun is the digging, we have had a few longer waits, and more likely than not, the ferts have killed a few babies underground, and moved on, one of magwitch's on a trip, even came trotting out of a hole with one in its mouth, Id say go for it, but just watch the time, and maybe finish earlier than usual
  18. no disrespect mate, but have you read any books on ferrets yet, looked up ferret husbandry on a google search, it amazes me how someone can contemplate getting an animal without knowing how to generally care for them, if your saying you want to start ferreting, then what do you think would be a good idea to do with the rabbits you catch feed them to your ferrets prehaps, or untill that time, although I dont advise using it all the time, at least buy them some dry FERRET FOOD, it was made for them, not cats Id suggest you get down the libary, first thing in the morning, and read it
  19. pet owners have been working on their own animals for years para, and as far as Im aware, you don't need a license, yes if you were charging and doing it to other peoples, but not your own most youngsters, if they have the confidence to do this, then why not, theres always going to be, those that have the means/money etc to rush to a vets at the first sign of trouble, but what if someone has'ent got the money for a vet, much better if they can releave the sympton, rather than let the animal suffer, its not like were talking open heart surgery here
  20. and why cant you carry on ferreting, may mean a few extra digs
  21. fraid I cant answer, Im not that old
  22. of course I'll work through, a dead rabbit is a dead rabbit, no matter what month it is, most farmers/permission want there feilds/land rabbit free, telling them your having a break for xx amount of months, dont look good in my book, so you may get a few more digs, but thats half the fun
  23. thats because he was deleated, Im going to lock this topic now, as can see it getting out of hand, specially with the remarks that a certain member is making against us mods,
