    I am wanting to try and load some 410 this year, and looking for loading presses, it seems there’s only Mec about, and I don’t want to spend daft money on one, lee only make 12 and 20 gauge that I would use, and not 410, I see the survival loaders from America give a 410 option, what does everyone else use I have plenty of loading gear for rifle rounds, but not shot shell I am planning on getting a lee load all in 12 with a 20 gauge conversion kit especially since I found they would load 3 inch and spoke to clay and game, but I would like to load the 410 as I do seem use mine mo

    Ok but if the head is at the bottom why is the neck at the top,?surely that should be the ankles ???

    Yes mine too having used one for over 20 yr, and I did assume that the speed of the twist was stripping the jackets ,ie compromising the bullets, sorry for my lack of verbal dexterity, it seems though KimE is correct and 1:8 ish is normal twist for 6.5 and I call them heads as that’s what I buy (bullet heads) a component of the round, at the end of the day it should stabilise the 156 grain heads (bullets) well being 1:7.5 twist and I was wondering what experiences if any , any of the members had, which heads, (bullets ) were best to try or what other people had used, having never gone a

    I am looking at the 156 grain, and will give them a go as the range wouldn’t be stupid from a high seat, thanks for the advice it is appreciated, what make of bullet heads would you advise, or do you buy them loaded

    It could be my bullet choice without doubt, never put FMJ through it, gun is a Manlicher stainless synthetic so I assumed the twist would be a standard twist for the caliber but didn’t know, thanks for pointing that out, I am fancying a crack at wild boar and to be fair the 140 grn should do there job from a high seat, I didn’t want to buy another caliber,

    Gun has been spot on, but the twist is 1 in 7.8 according to sportsman guns, and I find anything over 130 grn is superb never had a need to question the rifle 85 grn are superb on foxes, however the 120 grns I loaded did shed there jackets and on roe deer where not the best, but that could have been the load or the heads themselves , in a twist that fast, the only bullet weight I havnt had the pleasure of is the 150+ grns I have found the 156 grain elite hunter heads and might give them a try, never loaded them heads before,

    It’s a good round I have tried most of the bullet weights, bellow 140 grn, 120 and bellow I have to load it down, with this gun as It can shred the bullet jackets, if I don’t, I just wanted to hear if anyone had tried and liked the heavier loads,

    I have used 6.5x55 for well over 20 years and love the caliber, however I am starting to get the urge to load some of the heavier loads, ie the 156 grain bullet heads and wondered if anyone had any experience with them, my rifle has a 1 in 7.5 twist so should stabilise them , traditionally I have used 140 grn heads with great success, all the lighter stuff doesn’t seem to do well in my gun, any info would be good ,

    That sounds good, I don’t like too fine a reticule for stalking, but may have a look for one for my 6.5x55, was it more money, how long did it take to get???

    I have vortex binoculars, and I can tell you I really like them and fancy a scope, they have really good low light capabilities, and are not over heavy / cumbersome, the price was really reasonable too, anyone know what there rifle scopes are like , which are the best for uk hunting, most look to have really fine reticules, and I am not sure how I would get on with one on my stalking rifle,

    I had a few pinks this morning, as said above do your home work, I used no 1 Solway steel, there’s loads of pinks about but still hopping from one stubble to the next, still plenty of food around and there not pushed at all,

    To be fare it’s gone through the roof, DSC has made it worse in my opinion, everyone wants to charge through the nose, and the venison prices are at rock bottom, it reminds me of the rabbit issues years ago, farmers complaining about the rabbits and wouldn’t let people on to catch them, I remember hind stalking in the late 80’s at £50 a day, and lodgings were really reasonable, people are far better heading south now, to be fair the trophies are as good or better, not that I go for them, and you are not dragged two days camel ride up a hill, to shoot a beast 200 yds behind the cottage .
