  13. It was good and it seems our way of life will go on for a while yet. Even though some that ferret and lamp ect don't agree with fox hunting with hounds, or park coursing, if they go, our hunting with dogs will go to. Link below to the program, if any one wants to watch it, its on after the adverts. http://www.tv3.ie/shows.php?request=thetruthabout&tv3_preview=&video=33911
  14. My lurcher bitch came into heat for the first time when she was just over 3 years old.
  15. He sounded like a good one mecca, thanks.
  16. Pre ban, how long did hard worked coursing dogs last for? Did they burn out after 3 to 4 years or so, or, did they last further? How many seasons, did they go on for, when worked hard, 3 or more times a week? Fen field ect? Was their a high %, that did not make the grade, of jacked? Cheers.
  17. IVE RAN THEM FOR 5miles A DAY ALONGSIDE ME WHEN I DONE A LOT OF RUNNING, IVE TROTTED THEM ALONGSIDE BIKES/CARS. WALKED THEM FOR MILES EVEN SWAM THEM. HAVING 2 DOGS THAT WILL RUN AROUND WITH EACH OTHER ON GRASS HELPS AS WELL. . HOWEVER THESE THINGS ONLY HELP PREPARE YOUR DOG OR KEEP THEM TICKING OVER.. AS THEY SAY"something is better than nothing". HOWEVER in my opinion!!! NOTHING GETS A DOG TRULY FIT OTHER THAN RUNNING IT. GEARING UP ITS BODY FOR THE CHASE, NOT JUST EXERCISE,,, YOU NOT ONLY HAVE TO GET ITS BODY FIT BUT ITS MIND FIT ALSO FOR SUCCESS. DOGS" ran from their beds"SHOWS BAD STOCKMAN

  19. What do ye lads over here do to get your dogs coursing fit when the season arrives again? I mostly lamp and do the odd bit of long ear running during the day, want to get into it more in the future prehaps. So, do some of ye just go out, as some i know have done in the passed and get them fit running on the long ears, or do you road walk them, run behind the car ect? What way do ye do it and what do you feed when your getting them fit and coursing?
  20. VERY TRUE & THE SAME CAN BE SAID OF RUNNING DOGS FROM SCOTLAND... SIMPLE EVOLUTIONARY PRINCIPLES APPLY..... SHORTER FIELDS WITH COVER & FENCES ETC MEANS THAT THE HARES THAT CAN GET TO COVER & UTILISE OBSTACLES IN THE QUICKEST & BEST FASHION SURVIVE IN LARGER NUMBERS. PURSUIT FROM A FASTER DOG MORE INTENT ON A QUICKER ENDING IN GENERAL MEANS MORE PRESSURE & MORE STRIKES IN A SHORTER PERIOD OF TIME. HOWEVER IN MORE OPEN GROUND THE HARE IN GENERAL NEEDS TO RUN LONGER. THUS THE HARE WITH MORE STAMINA & ABILITY TO EVADE THE DOG FOR LONGER WILL SURVIVE IN LARGER NUMBERS TO
  21. Their is a lot of deer in Ireland that have Tb. I use to cull for the dept of agriculture back in the 90's. I use to cull badgers under licence and also deer. 30% of badgers had it and about 20% of deer aswell, in areas where their was high TB cases with cattle.! Great pictures their Martin, that is exactly what it looks like, but, it is hard to detect, in the early stages.!
