    Some nice bits there hard feather I liked old Ernie he was a real gent who had a never ending love for gamefowl and especially his duns . Iam not a great fan of some of Atkinsons paintings ...many being stylized especially the prints done for the feathered world which imo hada strong asil influence Where as his paintings from life were superb .

    Cameras up on the road , you will be surprised how many number plates it will catch slowing down and stopping ....     So is this done when the bird is 72 hours old ??? And if done for the reasons stated then fair enough ... Near enough the same scenario as docking a spaniels tail to stop it getting smashed to pieces whilst working heavy cover ... Remember not everybody knows everything about everything and I had certainly never heard of dubbing before and the clip I watched wasn't a bird 72 hours old and it certainly wasn't quick lol ... Like I said with education comes a more objective look and I can see the advantages of the process if its going to save the bird regularly cutting up its combe and whatle ..

    The thing is fellas , Gamefowl are unlike any other breed they will shred a comb on the mesh when penned while following. A free range hen past his pen , before long they are in a complete mess . The way they push through the wire trying to get out at a stag walking by who is trying to tread a .pullet ... Its far easier to dub a bird at 72, hrs ( legally done ) ....than let him be marked up constantly , something which also effects the fowl in winter with the freezing temps Yes its tradition ...:.     Like that nobby , I have made mine from 3mm fencing wire , ..... They are shaped up to a ring at the top , so i simpley hang them over the hook i knit from and load a needle , ive also made needles from 3mm wire in different sizes that way ive found i can make a needle slightly longer than usual and have less knots in a finished net if any in the smaller ones All the best Duckwing
