  1. Guessing it's FAC then, if it's with the RFD. As far as I know they didn't make many as FAC (though not difficult to raise the power on them with the right kit). The rarity is it being a left hooker, though most of the Scirocco stocks were ambidexterous. It looks like the 2000 to me, not the original scirocco, as it has the extended moderator/cocking assist. I thought you had to put a price on a "for sale" advert?
  2. Any sign of damage to the packing? Sounds like the sort of thing Spoil Mail can do in their sleep! If the packaging is damaged then it should be covered under their insurance.
  3. .22 gas ram in a .177 is ok, will drop your power level a bit, but it'll be legal. .177 in a .22 will take you well over the legal limit! Definitely go for it, makes for a completely different gun!
  4. to use when zeroing scopes and the odd clay session. Exactly.
  5. Steve, how did you put the funds on to Paypal? The reason I ask is, if you used a credit card then there might be a liability there. Even if not, you might have some kind of fraud insurance cover if you have a credit card! Hope you get it sorted mate. Definitely push plod to get something done, they might be able to recover some of the money! If I had a suitable rifle you could borrow/have it, but I think all of mine would be a bit heavy for the youngster.
  6. The answer is yes, they will make a huge difference to the sound level at your ear. I'd recommend them if you're firing more than a few shots. A bit bulky and uncomfortable for stalking, but at the range invaluable! I always have a pair of those yellow foam plugs in my pocket when stalking.
  7. No news as yet sonny. Leaflets and posters are being circulated locally, and the local paper will be running a piece on it tomorrow, so fingers crossed!
  8. You'll need to dig through, but the info you need should be in here... The Seal Mans O-ring handbook
  9. Rabbit stew on the menu in the cookhouse the next few days then Si? Actually, it's a bit wasted on squaddies. Those blokes will eat ANYTHING, they'll even eat MRE!
  10. They're bad enough, but wait until mr and mrs Renard start having marital relations just behind where you've decided to lay up. If there were ever a basis for the banshee, that is it!
  11. I converted my lightning (the original one, not the XL) to gas ram, and it was a completely different rifle! I would say yes, it does everything a good tune will do, and more. Gets rid of twang, smooths the recoil and makes for a quieter, more pleasant shooting platform!
  12. An update on this. Her distinctive pink collar was found on a gate post a few hundred metres from the house. Apparently it was damaged, as if it had been torn off. The reward still stands, so if anyone knows anything, or sees her around, please PM me!
  13. You seem to have fewer prices than different rounds.
  14. People speak very highly of it. I'm still waiting to get my hands on some in .243 to try out, but I've heard generally good things about it. As you say, for the price you can't go wrong. Some rifles don't like it, but that's the same with any ammunition, so got to be worth a box to try out!
  15. Your experience tends to suggest otherwise! Definitely contact whoever sold the gun, if they're any good they should be able to resolve the issue fairly easily. As it's a modern gun, the replacement parts shouldn't be too hard to come by. Edited to add, after doing some research, it appears that the Gorosabel name died with DIARM in the mid 's, so your gun isn't new. Still it's of modern design and construction so it should be fixable for a knowledgable gun smith!
  16. Isn't it weird how any brit has an absolute coniption if anyone talks about shooting a swan, and yet geese and other birds have no such stigma attached. What an excellent example of social conditioning! I've never really thought about shooting swans, but does the .308 not do a fair bit of damage to the meat? Or is it not customary to eat them? I know that a group of Poles in the UK were arrested and inmprisoned for shooting swans with a legal limit air rifle, so I guess that is an effective method of killing them, though I wouldn't tackle prey of that size with a 12 ft.lb air rifle. I
  17. Mate, there's some kind of dead animal on your head... Oh, hang on, that's your HAIR?!?!?! :11: I had 4 the other day, 3 with the 12 bore and one with the .22LR. Been a while since I took the air rifles out after any prey, except the woodies in the back garden, cos they steal the chicken food.
  18. Haha you'll get as many opinions as there are shooters (probably more) about which of the calibres is best for air rifle hunting. The .22 delivers more energy in a shorter distance on impact, due to the greater cross sectional area. The .177 presents a flatter trajectory, making it easier to put the pellet accurately where you want it. The .22 tends to carry more energy downrange, slowing down less quickly than the .177, and so can deliver more energy at a greater range. The .177 flies much faster, reducing the risk of an animal moving between you pulling the trigger and the pe
  19. And you've just discovered why it's never a good idea to dry fire any gun, though modern guns don't normally eject their firing pins like that. I'd be taking it back to whoever you bought it from, as it does rather suggest a fault. Shouldn't be too difficult to get it repaired, pop it in to your friendly local gunsmith for a look, they'll be able to tell you if it's fixable.
  20. Danny, the easiest way to post pics to the site is to get yourself an image host, photobucket are popular and seem to work ok. Upload your image to your photobucket account, and then copy the link, then click on the "insert image" button at the top of the message box. Paste the link into that, and the image should appear. Davep, did you paunch that in the field? I would recommend getting the guts out as soon as possible, to minimise the risk of contamination and meat spoilage.
  21. Tango, I dream of being able to get hold of Super X for £4.! My local RFD sells them at £5.50 for 50!
  22. Once they're dead the other bunnies don't care. The main thing that scares them off is the almighty "THHHHHWACKKKKKK" when 16 grains of lead painkiller meet brain at 800fps! Nowt you can do about that though.
  23. Thanks Rory and Barry. She was in Kingsbury Episcopi. Just heard from the owner that there's a reward for information leading to her return. Anyone who passes me info, the reward is all theirs!
  24. iam, why the hostility mate? I'm not entirely sure where she was on the property, but even if she was in the garden, it's fully secured and enclosed. There's no way she can get out of the garden on her own. There's a footpath along the side of the garden, where people can see in to the garden and not be seen. They're not CERTAIN that she was stolen, but she's never shown any inclination to escaping, or running away, before, and everyone in the village knows her and would bring her home. No matter how she's gone missing, she needs to be found! The owners aren't lazy, they take
  25. Diver, I almost agree, but not quite! The firearms licencing bods need reminding from time to time that they are there to apply the law, fairly and equally. It's not for them to make the rules up as they go along! As for the FEO having the final decision, I'm afraid not! The FEO's in all the forces I know of lost any real decision making powers a long time ago. Now they are purely information gatherers. That's not to say that having them on side for your application isn't a very good thing, of course it is, as they are only human and can have a big effect on your application by the way
