  1. Can you do that? Or is it stupidly hard metal to cut? I'm guessing it could be done because of all these criminals with 'sawn offs' 24 and a quarter is the legal minimum length for a shot gun not 24 inch.
  2. Hi ross, do you still have the stock? we sent you a message through the gunstar website but had no reply. could you let us know as we are interested in it thanks
  3. Give me a call or contact through our webb site ukgunrepairs.co.uk we are in Somerset. If you wish call Sage on 07831617335.
  4. Hi chap. We live in this mad world where health and safety rules, so the gun and rifle makers set trigger pulls on field rifles well over 4lb as to be inside the guide lines of four pounds. The trigger pull is adjustable as mentioned above. Please take care do not go below 2lb for a field model and may I say best to get a rifle smith to do this job for. Sage UK Gunrepairs.
  5. I would love to help my friend but by the time you get the gun to us and to return that in its self is best part of £40.00 pound to the guys at TNT, it also sound like you could use some parts once inside could very easy spend another £50 even at trade money. very happy to help if I can. UK GUN REPAIRS.
  6. Only just seen your post. I have never cut down a beretta of that type with a synthetic stock. But the synthetic stocks I have shortened normally have a hard filling in last 2 or so inches to allow for such work I can find out for you and if I am right I can do the job for you Dennis UK GUN REPAIRS.
  7. 30 plus years at the bench repairing guns you can't beet a Miroku/Browning you would have to spend a lot more money to get better. Regards Sage UK Gun Repairs.
  8. Time for a little pay back lads. The city folk were very happy when their vote stoped (or tried) hunting. Now they have a fox problem why should they now want to cull their dearly loved furry friend. More to the point they have created the problem by feading the dam things. If they call for a cull,we should call for a return to hunting.on the other hand they could catch them all and dump them on our farm. I think I have just about enough primers and powder to sort the problem and I think I could find a few friends to help!
  9. Never had one in the workshop which is usually a very good advert. Got the right name like Browning products. Regards Sage UK GUN REPAIRS.
  10. From your mail I can read that you have a good understanding of wood and what is required to get a pleasing finish. I think you will find the Birchwood finish comes up short of your expectations. Having done a good job of prepping the woodwork, I would first raise the grain and then fine flat, apply a good sanding sealer and finish with an oil finish. There are 2 good ones readily available from gun shops: Rapid Oil is, in my opinion, the best off the shelf. It takes longer to apply, and more work than the quick fix Casey product but I am sure you will enjoy the finish. Should you want to hav
  11. There in lies is the crux of the matter Rod " He says that as long as the gun fits fairly good" The trouble is how do we know it fits good? Consider this, I am 5' 8" - if I said to a 6' 2" guy "jump in my car and take it for a spin" - what's the first thing he would do when sitting in my car - of course, he would move the seat to have good feel of the pedals and posture, alter the rear view mirror - he would change this to make the car fit him. Yet we rush headlong into buying a shotgun because we like the name/engraving/wood and try and make ourselves fit the gun when in reality it shou
  12. Be smart ring Rifle craft on 01379853745 ask for 5 mins of Andrews time and ask the question. he will run through the pros and cons for you may be the best 5 mins spent. Mention you have been chatting to UK Gun Repairs and he will help you. Best Regards Dennis / Sage UK Gun Repairs.
  13. Lots of ifs and buts in my reply. Recoil is all about charge weight/weight of gun. For example a Hv 32 gram load through a light weight game gun with a traditional heel plate..... quite sharp, to say the least. The same gun with a 24 gram load and a rubber pad - a different gun to shoot. Lots of people make the mistake and think 20 bore reduces recoil. A light 20 bore with a Hv game or competition load will rattle your teeth, even more than a 12 bore. I read that you are quite new to shotgun shooting, so first things first: get a good competent shot to fully show you the corect stance
  14. Keep as close to the bore line as you can without touching. Regards Sage UK GUNREPAIRS.

  20. Hi Hooton & Jones produced sporting guns and rifles. A good gun and rifle maker but never made it into the big league of gunmakers as a result most of the guns from this maker are ofton plain and of a standard style and finish. I have worked on a number over the years. If it is in good condition and in proof I would be keen to make you a good offer. Regards Sage UK GUN REPAIRS.
