Is there anyone still flying the short distance racing pigeons,they race for 1/2 amile or a mile I think. I haven,t heard of them since I was a kid we used to call them hedge hoppers or short whippers, any information appreciated. ATB.

I,m not a digging man ,but the way I see it is ,the fact that people on this site work them and are keen enough to argue and defend the breed against its detractors,bodes well for the future,if these people continue to work and breed workers, then a standard true breeding Plummer will surely evolve naturally. The problems seem to come with the rush for KC recognition and unifomity of size ,colour etc. Why the rush?

Fireman..well that explains your antagonistic attitude,however I,m from Liverpool and my name is Stanley [my sister in law spells it stainlee on xmas cards etc],interestingly I was considering using the name Fireman as I am an ex fireman. I am not nor ever have been MB.

Fair enough, but if I thought he was an anti or a dope who shouldn,t have dogs I would of ignored the thread, my point is that if he is a genuine kid who,s only crime was to ask a daft question then the abuse and ridicule he got was out of order.
