Right al just clarify a few things before someone decides to go out and get a pup and not speak to it for 12 months.... Theres training a dog and theres teaching a dog basics. Sit, stay, heel, fetch and recall can all be done from a very early age.....christ you can throw a ball to a 6 week old puppy and get it to come back too you but thats not training. If you did get it to come back the first time by the second or third it will have ran off or dropped it to smell a bit shit on the grass so in effect doing it multiple times is nothing but pointless until the dog has reached an age to under

Thats the thing with folk though they dont see whats involved. They will see you turn up, set a few traps then go. Turn up the next day and then have your hand out for the money. Its the same with anything.....similar when priceing a fencing job in someones garden, you say your price and they look at you like you've just done a shite in there livingroom....... -

Beat me too it.... If the dog has a decent nose and its not interested in hunting out empty bushes then why try and force it......? It will be burning enough energy in a day without doing extra for no reason....there not daft you know! (some are obviously)...

Well thats why theres so many different views in training dogs.....fact of the matter is i grew up watching my grandad train dogs, never once did i see him through a dummy for a dog and his golden rule was let the pup be a pup and i never saw him with a bad dog......and there were some real crackers along the way. Not talking trailing dogs here and the pups didnt come from this kc reg to the next kc reg they were working dogs bought along the way and then a litter when needed....... Think al stick to this method mate......everytime i open the kennel door i'm reminded that it works......

I'd be expecting to pay £30 on a top driven shoot, more even if it has some classy high birds but for a 30 bird day i think you'll need to lower your price mate.....if you can get £25 then you should be happy....

Never understood why the lurchers seem to be used early..maybe thats why so many turn out shite. I'm a firm believer in a pup being a pup and no serious training until 1 year of age....
