I think the job is as hard as you want to make it really, it's not the hard job it once was with all the new equipment like automatic drinkers, feeding systems and thermostatic heaters. There was a day when I was younger when I was falling asleep in the bath at 12 at night knowing I was checking birds at 4/5 again. It's more stressful than physical I found.....shite jobs like biting soon weeds out the workers or the failures. Anyway I've never asked anyone too do anything is never do or had never done. It's a job I'll not miss.

Give them a good dose of Baytril mate. I know it's expensive but don't scrimp on it and give it for the recommended dosage. As for disinfectant I've always used Stalosan( check spelling).. It's a pink powder mate and you just lash it about all surfaces. Can be spread in areas where birds are present too.

Not sure if this is the same thing lads but pheasants get a similar thing and it's called Mycoplasma??? If so and you can get your hands on Batril you can give them a dose and see what happens. Worth a shot before you chop them.
