  1. hi i have a shadowmatic auto made in japan anyone else with one of these..
  2. heard that this cross is poo hot on unicorns, blue whales, field mice.
  3. ffs if some of these blokes reckon the best thing to do is chase the dog down and teach ita lesson must read thier books. mind you if they can out run a whippet they don't need a lurcher to catch the buns..
  4. i think that it would of been possible...two years ago i had a fox go for my chickens managed to pop her with my shotgun the dobie rushed out to have a pop but it was already DEAD...
  5. hi rob as pm i have this cross as well but the sire was a whippetxlurcher he's only about 23/24 but a very game dog good on the lamp/ferret/rats..the dobie bitch is mine she is on the small side but game like the other bloke said very game and not to slow on the straights but not to good on the bends but she will hunt/catch/retrive..and protect the bag... from the way the pups are at mo they are great and coming on well..in cmw soon as ready to go and not silly money i think...
  6. if diameter does not effect velocity as much as mass why will a .20 travel flater than a .22 considering that the pellets are nearly the same weight..accupels..if they are the same mass but one travels quicker then it's muzzel velocity would be greater would it not?
  7. andy not saying your wrong just saying i had the chance to test out many years ago and there was a marked difference..and as pellets and barrels were both made by the same companies pellets accupells barrels hw i thouhgt it was a good test...barrels were the same lenght etc..another spanner in the works .. .20 was more consistant than the .22 and gave more shots per charge....have the notes somewhere ...will try to dig them out...
  8. just because it has not worked does not mean that it can'work ffs all whippets are born to run/catch...
  9. No, mate, not really. .20 shoots a lot closer to .22 than .177 in practice as the pellets generaly weigh roughly the same, 12-15ish grains. So the velocity's much closer to .22. They tend to hold their energy a bit better at range 'cos as the weight's so similar (I must stress I'm generalising here...) and they have a smaller frontal area so they have less drag through the air. It's splitting hairs though.... Edit to say...... For what it's worth, the three best pellets I've found for killing small game in a sub 12ft-lb airgun dureing the last 30 years I've been shooting the blood
  10. so who won then or is it a team meet and 2009/2011 comp..
  11. god those pups are the spit of mine and they a doberman X whippet/lurcher.and now at six weeks they have rough and smooth coats...
  12. it's hard to know what would happen as i hope never to be in that situation, regarding the dog's on lead bit that someone posted where i walk my dogs there are signs everywhere that state dogs on lead at all time however loads of people ignore them at let thier dogs run wild disturbing all sorts of game including hares however these people never get done,is it legal for a non lurcher,g hound ,whippet type dog to chase a hare or are we as people who hunt shoot whatever guilty just because we own a running dog..maybe if when walking your dogs you see old mrs smiths mutt chasing a hare call the po
  13. its a great side of the sport, thats why i am getting back into it,ten years ago a sunday out with the mix pack was never a wasted day. we used to have a pack of two lurchers,2 border T,and a jr cross . lurcher and the jr cross which were mine loved it very good sport and amazing how the dogs learnt thier place//job. now started again but with an ess, labxess, doberman and a friends whippet lurcher.thats why i crossed the dobie with the whippet. and the only work the ess and lab got this season as the beating was very lean...
  14. hello, your better selling it yourself rather than part exing it,should be able to get around £350/£400 for it..remember some people wont buy from gunshops these days as they don't want to give thier details..not because they are up too no good just that the new laws are a bit intursive.
  15. one of the ones i have here.....deffo different.
  16. i did use a .20 pcp a black fox??.found it to be a great pellet accupells are poo hot in this caliber..i actually found that a .20 added 10yrds to my kill range as it would go clean thru bunnies at my normal springer range...25yd to 35 yds..but woud stop them dead at 45 yds with accupel.
  17. hello jack..whenever i have a situation like this i go thru a test run...first off remove mod and scope.then use the gun no scope/sights/mod and shoot at a safe target..large box full of newspapers with a good back stop..then fire off 5 pellets by pointing the the gun at a mark on the box..see how the pellets group..and dig out any pellets trapped in the news paper to see if any strange rifling marks on back of pellets..if not fit mod back and do the check again.check pellets again. another question do you shoot freehand or off a support... and a third option try adding a weight to the mod
  18. from what i heard it will also give the police the power to stop you when you are out and about with your dogs and they can demand to see proof of insurance and of dog being chipped, also if your dogs are compailned about by someone then the police will automaticaly charge you ie make owning your dogs difficult..this is not just to stop so called dog weapons but another way for labour to have a go at the hunting set...
  19. if you are thinking of carrying two different types of pellet whilst hunting do check they are both accurate.as different pellets do sometimes need a re zero..why not go for air arms..not too light not too heavey..
  20. webley vulcan, red dot sight.... clays,3 jackdows, rats, woodcock. two pellets ,no more than 15 yds... don't do it anymore....
  21. got an owl decoy years ago but no magpies came in maybe i was not shaking it fast enough..
  22. it would be enough to get them interested....i will now admit i use a film can with 3 ,6 mm ball bearings init ..if waiting in ambush and i see a magpie some way off will use the can for a few rattles then use the matches for closer work.... half the rabbit calls on the market don't sound like a rabbit but they work.. just saying don't knock it until you have had a go...
  23. you can get cheap mole traps of ebay .i use the double scissor type.... first find your mole hills, then probe the ground between them with a metal rod 10/15mm when you hit the run the rod will just drop into the ground as no resistance due to underground run ..best to probe at an angle(oh matron) then cut out a earth sod above the run clear the area place the set trap and recover with sod, make sure no light is going in around sod...mark the trap..twig ,flag.you will forget where it is...also look for run close to drains or ditches as moles need to drink....and keep off the fags, aftershave et
