i see this threads gone tits up,i knew frank buck and every terrier i have originate from a terrier fetched from him back in the 90s that dog is in everyone in my kennels and they all go back to black davey,he was still working at past 12 years old and had to stop as he was going deaf and blind he was put to sleep about 3 years ago at 15,breay went more the smooth coat way but franks did throw brocken coated mine are broken coated and throw the odd black and tan from the lakeland blood buck used, theres a couple of lads on here had them from this line i have here,ive found they start daft and

Sorry dan lol,right heres my take on them ive seen 2 and only 2 in my time they were game little dogs they did rabbits ok and the odd fox pre-ban,i thought they were abit cloddy and were not that quick and were fairly terrierish in mentality and hunting style and they do nothing a wheaten/greyhound cant do but a wheaten/greyhound does it better and a whole lot easier so i never really saw the point in the cross but each to there own regards hedz

I honestly think the reverse is true. Read back in the old FMWTC yearbooks and you'll see how many double, trebled, (and more) their dogs. Not to say some don't do that still (I know they do), but the single handed dog has come to the fore in more recent times. I honestly think some lads (and some are on here) have moved the tworking terrier along to places they've rarely been in the past....and I'm talking about digging dogs here. Yep, tomas, and my question to all the terrier blokes who think the pure terrier is the be all and end all is ''why are so many peeps putting bull blood in their terriers? I'd hazard a guess and say that the working terrier of today is not the same animal the working terrier of yesterday was so people want to add some bull blood to get it back to where it was. Let me guess you have a bull x terrier in your kennels and your right they have been around sometime derek wheelers been doing them since the 80s and theres a few good ones about weve all tried them,i know a few who use them they do no different to the terriers many lads own out there with no bull blood in them and putting bull to russell why do you think that is ???? because there not bred to be hard so putting bull blood in them in the first place is stupid if you wanted a hard terrier buy one from a hard line of fell or lakeland

Seen dogs from both these lines work, i prefered the ones from bill brighmoors line to graham wards the latter were abit to showy for my liking and not as reliable as brightmoors but they may of only been the ones i saw i think the ward dogs i saw had gary middletons blood in them also and i am not a huge fan of them ive always thought john cowens or bill brightmoors were the better type of working lakeland thats just my opinion though regards hedz
