  1. impossible in both cases. not really, ive seen them used as guard dogs in senegal. also seen male baboons on chains used as guard dogs also in senegal. and this was only 15yrs ago i have no doubt that some how they would guard, probably by looks rather than intent. but i think the impossibility you have written in your own words impossible NO impractical YES. they use them to guard scrapyards and some gangs also keep them, if it was based on looks alone desperate afrikaans would learn that very quickly, they would also be costly to feed. they use them where dogs are

  4. very few of the lads that truely live it are on here, they are out there hunting/fishing/training their dogs/rearing their poults. im thankful for the few that do make it in here from time to time. i hunt 3-4 times a week (sept-march), hell- im a part-timer, might take up fishing next year to make use of the summer, ive a decent stocked lake only 3miles up the road so ive no excuse, my nearest permission is 6miles away lol.
  5. not easy to rear, they are suicidal as chicks, heard many a lad telling me how his drowned in a shallow water bowl. i never had that problem with mine but have had poor fertility rates when ive bought eggs in. cant keep them with chickens as chickens will kill them, recommend you keep them in either an aviary or guineapig hutch and run depending on quantity, very flighty even when handled a lot from hatching, cant have them free-ranging as like pheasant you'll never see them again. they are very stupid, some will fly at roof of their pen till their heads bleed and you can see bone, many sur

  12. i know a lad who buys 300 at a time for 9euro each, keeps hounds, i often get them off him. jab my own.
  13. i'll be neutering my collixwhippet bitch in spring, i know shes not a worldbeater, shes a nice little thing and will do the job i want. theres no need to breed a litter with so many for sale, id have to have a top coursing dog/race dog/unreal alrounder before id breed a lurcher.
  14. a few well trained and bred rhodesians would be the dog for that. i surpose they would but its finding a well bred ridgeback thats the problem. i wouldn't risk any of my dogs on a wolf i would leave it upto someone else. Ridgeback x irish wolfhound maybe decent? maybe something like the ozzie pigdogs with a bit more bull + a touch of alaunt what do the yanks use?

  16. shes looking well, does she still work or is it an occasional thing?
  17. seems to be a glut of lurcher pups about too, wish folks wouldnt breed from the average bitchs, if your just after a pup like your bitch, buy one, you'll end up stuck with most of the litter otherwise unless your really lucky
