    Hi lads, I am currently trying to decide what Caliber of rifle to apply for on my FAC. I am 18 years old and live in Scotland. I will be using the rifle for vermin control (Fox Rabbit etc) and would also ba taking the odd Roe Deer. I know in scotland the bullet must weigh no less than 50 grains and be expanding ammunition for Roe Deer but what Smallish Caliber would cover me ? Was thinking .22cf or .22-250 But dont think i would be accepted for .22-250. I have a current shotgun certificate also. Would i be able to keep the rifle in my shotgun cabinet and keep the bolt and bullets in a seperat

    Hi lads i have just started keepering on our small shoots last year in july. So far this season we have shot 78% of the pheasants put down. I was wondering how all you lads whistle feed your pheasants and how to get the pheasants onto the whistle as im interested in trying this next year. And also how long after the shooting season do you continue to feed ? Many thanks Andrew

    Hi lads I am going to be building a ladder trap on the syndicate I keeper on. The crows are hounding the feeders at the moment because of the snow on the ground. I Was thinking about aquiring 4 security fence panels for the basic square of the trap. Then constructing the ladder area on top. could i put a flat roof on top with the ladder up the middle or would it need to be the angled roof each side with the ladder in the centre ? Also what spacing between the sections on the ladder ? And lastly I keeper roughly 100 Acres for the lads but some is just permittion its not owned the land which is

    Hi mate, If you are going to be feeding a river bank be sure to have enough of what you are going to be using. Because most of your feeding will end up in the river And if the river rises then you will loose the lot. As for feeding you can use Wheat, Barley, Potato skins, Old rotted potatos, Cereal, Bread. You should put down some feeding at the area that you are going to shoot and watch it at night to see how many ducks are going into it. Keep topping up your feeding for 2-3 weeks and keep watching the area then if there are sufficiant numbers of ducks coming in then shoot it and after youve

    Hi Lads, Tomorrow I will be building a platform in the middle of my duck pond to put a feeder on. What design of feeder works well for ducks ? Would I use a Spring or v pan or letter box ??? Any other ideas much appreciated. Thanks lads Andrew

    hi all I am looking to buy Fenn traps. Where is the cheapest to buy genuine fenn traps or replica fenn traps and how much are they ? It dosnt really matter to me if there the real thing. All i want them for is rats and squirrels. Andrew.

    Hi all, On one of my syndicates there are alot of squirrels and they are eating holes out of my feeders. Any time i go down with the shotgun theres none to be seen. So im going to use MK4 fenn traps. Whats the best method to catch them and what bate do i use ? Any advice ?? Many thanks Andrew.

    Hi lads, I am putting in for my FAC and need some advice as to caliber. Im 17 years old and have been shooting with a mate for foxes and deer have been using .22-250 and .243 What would be my best option for foxes and deer. Im in Scotland and know i can use both calibers for roe deer and foxes. What is plod more likely to accept as a first rifle for a 17 year old ? Also what caliber is cheaper to run ? Andrew.

    Ok thanks very much mate i will tell my uncle. FTB has offered me to go over and get a couple ferrets off him so i might do that in the future. I am tryin to get permission on an estate for the rabbits but the guys the typical posh old person. " oh i dont know i will get back to you" and never gets back to me . Andrew

    Thanks very much mate. I was ignoring him tbh. Thanks for the advice on foxes i wasnt sure but it wont be happening if its not legal. And as for rabbits i will tell him he has to be licenced. Thanks very much mate.
