    Hi there, I'm getting things ready around the pen for the poults coming at the end of next month. Getting the electric fence rigged up and tested first. This is the first year I'm trying an electric fence. I've got 2 wires set round the pen 15 cm high and 30 cm high and 20cm from the chicken wire. I'm not using one of those new fankled energisers I am going to use a 12 volt car battery. The problem I'm having and don't understand is how to attach the wires to the battery. Do I put one wire on positive and one on negative. Or join the 2 wires together or what. Can you explain how to set up an e

    Looks like its been a badger mate. Was there any fur on the wire ? if so what colour was it ? That will tell you whats been and payed a visit. I'm a gamekeeper and had a badger got into a pheasant pen last year. The chicken wire was buried 12 inches deep but it just ripped the netting apart. If you can see any runs coming into your property then set a snare on them but make sure it is fox before you set snares or you could be catching something illegal. Andrew.

    The ladder traps are set up for crows i have spare ladders of different spacings for magpies and jackdaws the spacings for crows on mine are 7 inch square with netting hanging down on the inside tapering to about or 5 inches. The ladders for magpies and jackdaws that i use are 5.5 inches square. caught loads of crows this year and last year, Caught loads of magpies in the larsens last year.

    Hi all, I have 2 ladder traps set up and 3 larsen traps set up I'm catching lots of crows everyday but struggling to get a Magpie in so I can use it in a different location. Will I catch a Magpie in the larsen with a crow in it or will it need to be a magpie call bird. I've got a larsen set up at the location I need to get the maggies with a nest in each side with pheasant eggs in one side and chicken eggs in the other side and a broken egg on top of the trap with no success. Any other advice would be grateful. Andrew

    Thanks very much mate. Is the mother and father quite big cockers or are they small. I've got a cocker dog at the minute he is the size of a springer but he is getting on a bit now. He will be 8 next month and had a hard life.

    Hi there. I'm looking for ether a cocker spaniel pup in Scotland. I had an 18 month old springer but had to be put down today as he had a broken femur in his back leg. It could of been pinned and plated but the vet said he wouldn't work again. Max I've got to spend is £400. Many thanks Andrew.

    I'm going to say otter bud, i get a lot of otter damage around my Pheasant pens and on the rearing field. They just kill for the sake of killing. Had an otter in a rearing hut last year and dead birds everywhere just killed not eaten.

    Not a mink its an otter bud. i work at a fishery and that's what the buggers do to the fish here.

    Hi lads, I'm applying for my FAC at the moment and I've got to the bullet quantity bit on my FAC form. I'm applying for a .243 and a .22 rimfire. I will be using the .22 for small ground vermin and the .243 for Fox. When filling in the bullet quantity bit is it a total amount of bullets to buy for the 5 years of my licence or is it for 1 year or each time I buy bullets. I'm stumped on this bit. Also what would you say a reasonable quantity of bullets would be to apply for. And one last thing. Where do I apply for a moderator on the 2 rifles and do I need a reason to apply for them ?     Hi lads. Im just filling in my FAC and was thinking of putting in for a .204 ruger. i am only going to be using it for foxes and at this time of year there are alot of crows at my feeders for the pheasants. Im not bothered about deer as my mate does them with his .243. All im wondering is what sort of price a second hand .204 would average and what sort of price is the ammo for it . i would also like a moderator on it. many thanks Andrew.

    Hi there, I own a Polaris Hawkeye and use it on my shoot. I have been using it for feeding etc with no problems to last week. The quad will start and idle with the choke on but as soon as you push the choke in the quad splutters and cuts out. If you push the accelerator lever it just splutters and cuts out also. I'm wondering if you guys could advise me what to check on the quad as to what the problem could be. I think it could be dirty petrol but I could be wrong. Any advice most welcome. Andrew.

    Hi all, I am a gamekeeper on an estate in Scotland and set alot of snares. It is more economical for me to make my own fox snares I made 50 snares last year from 7/7 cable but I found the wire to be quite springy when set. The snare would open more than required and the fox would not be humanly held. The loop would be round the body or round the legs or the fox jumps straight through the snare loop. I am just wondering what wire you guys prefer to use if its 7/7 or 1/19 bowden cable. Or if you have other types of cable you use. Links for websites are welcomed. many thanks Andrew

    Hi there, Ive got my self a 10 week old springer pup he has 21 field trial champs in his lines. we have been getting along fine he knows his name and i have started him retrieving a tennis ball and pup dummy which he loves and does very well. I need some advice on what training to be ding and when t do it. Also need advide as to getting te pup on a lead as he htes it and just lies down when i put the lead on. Many thanks Andrew
