My Max Oal Is 3374Th But My Max Magazine Is 3325¿¿¿¿
danw replied to GEOFF.223's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Yeah its not uncommon my original sako 25 06 barrel had a long throat so to get the best from my reloads I had to load it singly when I had the rifle rebarreled I specified a short throat so I could get the bullet up to the lands and still use the magazine -
Air Rifle Experience Counted Towards Fac
danw replied to lordecon's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
At guess the bullet flight time to 1300yds would be 3-4 seconds a lot can happen in that time those of experience will tell of missed fox etc that moved at the critical time and caused a miss and that is at acceptable range it should be remembered dinner plates don't move deer do if the shot went wrong could a follow up be taken and just how easy would it be to mark the exact point of impact should a wounded deer need following up all being considered I couldnt ever condone nor accept any reason to take a shot at an animal at such range. -
Air Rifle Experience Counted Towards Fac

I guess the flo made a mistake then when he conditioned my 300 rem ultra mag for fox, deer, boar and aolq but then the ho guidance is just that guidance and not law P.s it really makes a mess of fox when 125 grains of nosler hit it at 3900fps -
The public have seen enough post dig photos of dogs with half their jaw hanging to never allow digging! Just won't happen chap.within a week of the licence coming out the freeads would be full of jackers lol

Scotland's a beautiful country with a great history the more we can keep the f**k out the better, how can you be half Scottish lol your either Scottish or your not. Some lads just don't like the cold I suppose its something you've got to go out in if your keen enough, never phased me even as a kid but I suppose it separates the men from the boys. I can see the comparison though, hunting day or night in "bleak Scotland" as you put it with cracking views or in the dark not a streetlight to be seen or lamping at the back of a council estate in built up England, where the wind can't make yer wee f

I wonder how many folks on this thread have needed the fire service it's funny but after youve watched them cut your wife and kids from a car you get a new found respect for them and all the emergency services personally I don't think any off them are paid nearly enough

Behave it is far from a fact that you need to spend over a grand for the reloading gear, lee do some good starter kits you could easily start for approx £200

Craig is good but connery is the best didn't really like skyfall its just a bit too diehard for my liking and the portrayal of the keeper at the end was laughable "nay master bond I dinea have any guns but I've a few sticks of dynamite"f***ing comedy gold

I am not up with the law on terrier work in Ireland , but when i was younger and there were less restrictions on what we did with terriers , i would not kill every fox i dug or bolted , i wanted to test my terriers , and would release the vast majority , so long as they were healthy . You cant expect to find foxes if you kill every one you come across ! don`t you get what i am saying, sport is no longer an acceptable reason for either shooting or digging, justification is only possible with a firm reason, theres no way any argument for either terrier work or shooting could be won on the grou

Damage To Swift Moderator By Hmr Bullet - Update
danw replied to kenj's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Did I miss something, which part of that comes as a surprise to you. The same can potentially happen with any calibre! Yep you missed something, it didn't suprise me in the slightest (seen the consequences twice before) others however in the original thread may have argued that a lodged bullet was nigh on impossible. -

Seems Charlie caller and the op where spot on then and a 17bullet can and will lodge in a barrel after a miss/hang fire -

I need to dream up a few courses like the BASC, charge people a shit load of money to teach them half baked theories about things I know nothing about and have not much pratical experience of. you want to learn anything, my advice would be, find a decent keeper or experienced hunting lad and ask them. you will learn more and better and it wont cost you a penny All the BASC are interested in is "running things" so that they can exploit the maximum amount of money out of it for the minimum amount of effort. Join the CA, NGO or SACS.....They are all useless but they just dont charge

Could be off the mark but aren't 17s prone to barrel fouling if so does that not mean there must be more friction and more likelyhood of a bullet jamming after a hangfire?
