  1. The actual massage may well be of benifit especially after exercise to aid recovery, but embrocation works by irritating the skin, thus increasing blood flow to the skin. Now this blood comes straight to the skin from other parts of the body, it does nothing to increase heat or blood flow to the muscle infact it may even take blood away from the muscle to supply the extra blood to the skin. All that embrocation does in humans is create a placebo effect, you can't create a placebo effect in dogs.
  2. No, because in this case, there are only collie genes on one side of the mateing so you couldn't get any more than a maximum of 50% collie genes in the pups, though this would be unlikely to happen in practice.
  3. After the first cross, which is exactly 50/50 there is no way of telling what % of what is in a dog as the genes are passed randomly. Meaning, in theory you might have a 3/8 5/8 but actually there is no such thing.
  4. That's right, the original mouse (Roosters litter sister) was barely bigger than a whippet and looked to have the makings of a good bitch until she met her end on the fens in her first season.
  5. When and why would you use liniment on a dog ?
  6. FFs ! it's in the for sale section, what do you lot expect, your no better than tree huggers. If you don't like it don't come and look. believe it or not dogs change homes with ease, one of mine had several homes before it came here and was devoted to me within a fortnight, and a mate of mine was forced to rehome his only dog, he went to see how it was getting on a couple of weeks later and was almost in tears when it couldn't be arsed to get of the sofa to see him. Good luck with the sale mate.

    hawk box

They would be cold in winter and hot in summer, I would have thought.
  8. You've won a lurcher, Poodle x Pug to be precise.
  9. It depends on the cross, if you've a beddy whippet at 12 months , it should be physically well enough developed to begin road work, but in my opinion, say a first cross deerhound greyhound wouldn't be.
  10. Really sorry for you mate, accidents happen sometimes ,all you can do is learn from them. I've had a few that can untie knots, I've watched them do it. What they do is pick the ring up on to the perch as if it's food ,then just keep picking at the knot till it's undone. Once I'd learned this, I put the offenders on low ring perches, they can't pull the ring up on them so never showed any further interest in the knots. Blocks would work just the same. Once again really sorry , Mike.
  11. I'm just wondering what the odds are of them being deaf or blind? There are people on here that have had them for many years with only a few that have had any signs of issues. As I've said mate, I've had ferrets for 51 yrs, I don't believe any albino ferret can see as well as a ferret should. It's up to the individual what they breed, I was just stating that the OP was correct and that I'd seen it, and that was the reason I favored polecat crosses. Have you bred albino ferrets? Do your jills ever throw light coloured kits? No mate, they are supposed to be eu polecats but as I di

  16. Something that wasn't very hungry , otherwise it would have eat the lot.
  17. Fair comment yet again.. ..but then again i dont have a problem with unpicking as i tie 5 tight knot's and im yet to see this current bird get past the 3rd knot..and that is when he has spent several constant day's on the bow dropping his weight after being pulled from the aviary. I have never and will never use a high perch (my own preferance by the way) so i will never know the answer to this personaly but..is it not uncomfortable for a hawk on a high perch when it want's to sit one leg with full weight of the leash and ring hanging on it's leg.?..and when at there most nervous after being
  18. I'm a bit of a cycling fan and your right mate, I've clocked 56mph on a road bike and that's not for the faint hearted, so what 70 is like on them mountain roads with big drops god only knows. Proper mountain biking on severe terrain takes some doing also.
  19. No one here was arguing that these defacts did not exist, that they get albinos with defects, but just that the vast majority are fine. As for ferrets seeing or not, as long as my ferrets appear to have a good quality of life and are 'happy / content' thats enough for me. I'm not sure they get that hung up about not being able to see birds flying over head. So would you breed terriers with poor eyesight then ? Totally different animal, with a different application, and life style, so no, not if it was severe. I know you would like to trap me into being an 'irresponsible bree
  20. I've found that a ring perch is the best solution to a bird that picks at or unpicks its leash mate. A bird that picks will almost always pull the ring up onto the perch to pick, a ring perch with the tethering ring on the stem below the perch ring cant be taken up to the perch so the bird seems to loose interest almost immediately. Your right mate some bows have to be seen to be believed !

  22. Ferrets with albinism are far from being blind, impaired vision is the term used. Deafness is a possibility but to what extent no one really knows. You are just using the term blind and deaf as an emotional crutch to back up your argument, when the statistics show that neither is really a cause for concern. To use an analogy like the one you used about your grandfather smoking. If you wear glasses as a child you are genetically different from most of the population does that mean that you should not go on to have children yourself, or that your life is affected in any great way? If you h
