I've got plenty of time mate, even though it's the off season and the birds are in moult, I'm flying one through the moult and was out 2 1/2 hrs last night and will be out again tonight, you speak for your self mate, you've no idea of my circumstances.
You have not met meny then whin some i have are fanatical about hunting with their birds traveling all over the world to do so i have found a lot who i have hunted with ten times more dedicated to their birds and hunting than your average dog man.
You're right, it takes far more dedication to hunt with birds than with dogs, come the season I'm out daily, weather permitting. The only weather that stops me is winds over 30mph and heavy rain, and even then I'll have a go in sheltered woodland until the birds are too wet to fly. I'm out for at the very least 2hrs, usually 4 or more. Some of
loos like you like that film mate, nice songs, i like the most pipe's banjo, stuff, bluegrass, celtic,
american country, rock, pop, shit nearly everything....lol
Atb.
Snap.
I like assorts mate, this is another favourite.
Sometimes when a young jill is giving birth cleaning up afterbirth chewing threw umbilical cords the odd foot or tail will be mistakenly chewed off. P1
That is usually the case rather than deformity. I'm sure that's what's happened in this case.
I'll look in on day 2, I'll pick them up at about 2 weeks , and they get handled daily from 4 weeks. they have a high percentage of wild polecat in them so if you wait until they leave the nest you've lost them, I've found with all ferrets if they are handled daily from 4-12 weeks they stay tame for life irrespective of how often they're handled after that.
I was only having a laugh mate, what can I say about a box, what size , how many compartments, how fancy does he want it, nails , screws, pins and glue, paint , varnish, flat back, curved, one door, two, the options are endless.
I always used a rope lead with a ring on the end. You put the handle end on your wrist, the ring end goes under the dogs neck and back over the neck towards its self , pull the bit leading back up to your wrist through the ring making a loop, this loop holds the dog , release this to slip the dog. The beauty of this lead is, if you then put this loop over the dogs head, the dog is secure and if your caught anywhere you shouldn't be, dogs on a secure lead and no incriminating purpose made slip.
I've not read all the posts and I don't know a great deal about bull fighting, I do know the bulls have a far better quality of life up until the time they enter the ring, than any cattle in this country, and agree or disagree, the Spanish believe the bull dies with dignity, and believe me, that can't be said for a lot of animals in our slaughter houses .
Any of game birds would cost alot. Why do people prefer short wings to long wings?
A lot depends on the land you have ,you really need a lot of space to fly long wings at their best. You can fly short and broad wings on much smaller areas. You have to choose your bird according to the land you have, hence a lot of folk fly hawks out of necessity. I prefer short and broad wings because I get closer to the action,in long wing falconry the action seems a bit remote to me. Although I first flew Goshawks I really enjoy flying Harris hawks, they suit the land I fly and I really like the relat
i dont chase him, i walked to the other end of the garden & sat down, he came looking for me eventually but wouldnt come close, he then buggered off again and chewed sevral holes in the dummy!
Go back to basics mate ,get the recall rock solid.
Doh ! when I say drop, I don't mean drop the feckin dummy , I mean stop and get down.
Maybe a person asking for advice wouldn't know that mate. Av seen plenty people at shoots telling there dogs to drop birds at there feet and they do and they spend 2 mins running about a field after a bird looking like a right tit.
What I was getting at mate, was the need to get the basics drilled in before starting the retrieve training, had he got the recall 100%, he wouldn't have the problem, also if they slip up on the recall ,if you drop them on the whistle first, they're much more likely to
