i used to run with a mate of mine and his son had a saluki cross with bedlington in it but i think there was something else as well.it looked like a scruffy poodle but was red hot on hares daytime brilliant mouth and bags of wind my mate bred it .lee c of here would know it as well a cracking day time dog .

not the same as the waterloo cup but get over to ireland in february for the clonmel coursing festival as i say not the same but still a brilliant few days and great craic with like minded folks clonmel is taken over by coursing enthusiasts for the whole 3 days of the festival .just dont try to compare it to the waterloo completely differant type of coursing .

there is a new dog transporter just started up recently transporting all breeds of dogs anywhere ibn the countryt the guys name is joe fisher very helpfull gut give him a try excellent rates and will travelanywhere i dont know if this is in the right place but if not perhaps the mods will move it for me cheers in advance .

the litter i bred out of my own greyhound bitch and tony byrnes full saluki sonny are now 13 months old and coming on very well reallyover the moon with them showing pace and wind .

riohog snap be great if we could turn the clock back but still know what we know now lol.and rocky yes we are still looking for that great dog but tend to enjoy the ones that arnt so great more than we would have when we were youngsters when the main thing was that your dog caught more than your mates and with more style.

and pukerk your older bros first started on the running dogs with me and my son lee and to all the members out there pukerk is a great example to all young lurchermen because whebn a dog goes to him its with him for life regardless .pity there wasnt more like him with their dogs .

birddog gotta agree with you on the good home comment but most of the injuries you mentioned they can get just running round without ever working mind you like i said if you ask the owners every dog in a show is a working lurcher .lol.

i was wondering how long members been in to their running dogs of any breed or cross myself ime 57 and had them all my life since a kid other than a few years when the kids were in their teens and played international table tennis and i was running them round 7 days a week for coaching so packed them in for a few years. but soon got back into it when they started work themselves .remember the first time i discovered lamping about 1976 1977 and was out every night summer and winter for a few years fog moon wind no wind it didnt make any differance i had to get out with the lamp and dogs . the

ive judged quite a lot of shows over the years and can honestly say not one person has admitted that their lurcher doesnt work but ime grown up enough to take what they tell me about their dog with a pinch of salt and judge purely whats in front of me on the day .and as i said earlier there is no way in the world you can tell if a dog works by looking at it .

tbh i gave nigel a hand organising it because it was his first ever go at running a show the reserve champion terrier and lurcher were supposed to have a runner up trophy each but old nig was run of his feet and trying to be 10 places at once but it will be rectified next year with more agilaty events as well and more classes but overall he said it went well with only a few hiccups .

i had a tame jackdaw and my mate had a tame magpie when we were kids but as wirral countryman says they can become a nuisance we had the same problems as he mentioned and it becomes worse if anyone is frightened of birds because they are pests when tamed
