He was a very tenacious big hearted dog,he loved the heavy ground on the fens,he wasn't a match dog by any means but an honest dog who would always stop a few hares,i remember he stopped 3 of 1 slip in January once when the ground was very heavy and on hares that knew what a dog was,he was no mug.

sometime you have to see the proven stock with your own eyes.lot of these dogs are bummed up by their owners and hangers on for to get higher stud fees.you only have to watch youtube . Blondie and red Sonia are the mothers to my dogs Charlie and buddy are the sires

I think you stand a far less chance of failure if you start with a good foundation[genetics],rearing a pup from proven stock from proven bloodlines gives me more confidence that he or she will be up to the job.I have never bred a litter and would only do so if I had a really good bitch,id rather buy a pup in than be kennel blind.A good dog man still plays his part mind but even he would struggle to make a silk purse out of a pigs ear
