A good dog will know what's expected when. Making good use of its nose for hunting up priceless.

My missed collies...can be very rewarding dogs to work with...not for all though I've always got my kicks from watching my dogs work more than the size of the bag which confuses some people.

Cheers oddser, seen the vet regarding shoulder going back for the third time on Saturday......he just said it was a shoulder injury and is monitoring her progress..... (I suppose before further examination).....I'm hoping she recovers well...fingers crossed

Well, my springer x lurcher cross has poorly tail, I've known this before on one of my other lurcher years ago, his got better quickly, but it was something that was a regular occurrence throughout his life. This isn't the case with this bitch's tail it isn't healing. She seen the vet twice now and at the moment it's looking no better and the vet says it might need amputating to a third of its size. I'll be gutted if this happens, but on the other hand if it's in her health's best interest it will have to be done. She's also injured her front right shoulder, holding up her leg, but showi

Used properly in the right hands.......you get results........but I hate to think how many aren't used in the dogs best interest......use only good quality collars not cheap rubbish. Good collars are adjustable from a very low tingle to get the dogs attention.......and are not cruel at all, but set it on high......to so call teach a dog a lesson is cruel and not the way they are intended to be used. Have a look on you tube and do a lot of reading on them if you are thinking of using one. Petsafe make some good quality ones.

Thorns in their eyes, but this has only ever been from working gorse bushes. I used to bush a small border collie bitch, would work any cover and as obedient as she was she was also a pain for following her nose and going off for 20 minutes at a time.....which wasn't a problem I'd just wait for her. More annoying was one of my Jack Russell's, if it went off for 10 minutes and didn't find me it would be heading straight back home,,,, across roads. I do find you have to be on top of your bushing dogs, especially terriers, seem to be very focused on what they're doing. Mine can be a bit

Her top speed is not too bad and will nearly keep up with my bed/whippet x collie/greyhound/ whippet, but she doesn't have have the off mark acceleration or same tightness of turn.....still not bad though. I wanted a lurcher that would hunt well on land where there's not much about and she certainly hasn't disappointed, she also does quite a bit of air scenting. If I'd have been after a lurcher I would have snapped up one of the saluki/ springers, I bet they're more racer and taller than mine...can't wait to see more pics as they mature. I think there's also someone on here who has a

I wanted springer in my lurcher and I don't regret it.........here is a link to youtube which you might find interesting...... This is not my bitch.......I believe this one to have a tiny bit of bedlington in there with the whippet and springer......I think there's about 3/4 vids..... If you type in....... tyke471

Sorry for the pic over load..haven't posted any of her for a while.. She's quite an odd shape,,, got the springers sort of muscle, strong front end. Not as lightly built as she looks in the above pic where she's wet. I would of thought your cross would be great, giving it a bit more height and lightness. Very quick to learn and a pleasure to have around. She is quite a strange looking thing , my wife didn't stop winding me up saying she looks like a lab, a lady in the woods also asked me if she was Labrador x greyhound. Certainly got some endurance.

Now ten months old, about 20 inch. I did see some sprocker x saluki/ greyhound advertised locally not long back. Post some pics in next 24 hrs.

Been there just like you when I was a younger. Thing is, plain and and simple you are wanting to see signs that your dog has potential.......nothing wrong with that, but it's obvious you are doubting your dogs ability..............because your dog won't follow you through rough cover.....sounds a clever little dog, why should it? Any dog with half a brain takes the easy less prickly route.....it has no relation to your dogs hunting instinct. The penny will drop, from working parents are not I doubt there are many Jack Russell's that won't work rabbits if entered correctly......mines from n
