  3. well me thinks i have a spotted a business opportunity, sureshot post them all to me and i will untangle them for £9 an hour.... Higgins.
  4. the cost of buying a dog is irrelevant because the cost of keeping a dog are far higher, even though some of us like to keep costs down in some cases where a vet is not necessary, there will be other times when a vet ISNECESSARY and if you own a working dog it's most likely going to cost more than you think of a dogs monetary value,as emotions and sentiments catch up with you regarding what the dog has given you in pleasure ,work etc;No one should buy a dog unless they are willing to pay for the maintenaince and upkeep of a dog IMO, Higgins.
  5. i'm sure it's a matter of time 'if' a local hunter catches something, but i won't be holding my breath yet again, we all carry around with us a host of useful digital capturing devices in the form of mobile phones, digital camera etc;it's funny though that the only released shots of something'conclusive'is usually inconclusive, because of a lack of extra images of captured/shot creature, but hey this isn't Hollywood so we will have to live with it,i have reached my own somewhat temporary conclusion that the images in the tabloids = MONEY,and by not including more photographic evidence increases
  6. in hindsight i bet your thinking i could 've kept him if i found a way of sorting things out,i know it's tough at the time, but once a dog has gone,it's regret time,he looks a grand dog, never let personal circumstances get in our way is all i can say,it's happened to me,and i wish i could've seen past the circumstances at the time, Higgins.
  7. well i guess i was after the pole but since it's been sold i can't make you an offer now, Higgins.

  13. hi Linda & Daisy, welcome to the site. Just had a look at the pic of her on the blog, looks very nice and at 29" she is big! As regards training, the lurcher will run after things on sight possibly so just keep taking her out to where the prey is as soon as she spots something she will give chase, get yourself a lamp as you can hunt down the beam, most animals are about at night as well as day time,so all you really need to work on is recall and retrieving, other things to train for is jumping fences if there are lots of fenced off land near you, nice to see lurchers in other parts, keep us u
  14. nice looking bitch, someone will snap that up,£150 is a bargain price, hope she gets a good home, Higgins.
  15. i've had a look on Google and seen some acoustic products mostly aimed at business and commercial premises and they look expensive. These boards you can get are they ok for lining inside a kennel and how effective is the noise reduction, also what sort of cost per board? What are made from? Higgins.
  16. Thanks for that K9wpg, i will pop down to the yard and have a look at this thermalite stuff, was going to be using the normal breeze blocks, but this may be a better solution, Higgins.
  17. Can the kennel be built with this or is it just a lining material and how much are they?
  18. welcome Beardy, hope you enjoy the forum, looks like you'll have plenty of reading to do, Higgins.
  19. well i'm looking for materials which are cheap enough as alternatives to the professional standard, something which will do the same job and be readily available from B&Q or similar, maybe thick foam backed carpet would do the job?Something to maybe line the inside of the kennel and if not completely silenced, reduced enough so WE CAN'T hear it in OUR back garden, then just maybe our neighbours will have enough distance to further qiueten any small sounds so as not to heard easily, Higgins
  20. Has anyone used anything to soundproof a kennel so as neighbours can not hear the dog barking from inside the kennel,my terrier occasionally barks when he hears something outside so i am considering using soundproofing methods for my new kennels which will be used only when he starts yapping? If so what materials did you find effective and what method of construction did you use? Higgins.
  21. good planning and siting is more important when installing CCTV,you don't necessarily need to have the latest technology immediately, you can buy CCTV cameras cheap enough to have several cameras sited around the premises and with a good switcher you can watch all the cameras rotating or dwelling on just one area, just start off cheap and expand as you can afford, experiment a bit, hard wired systems are much cheaper than the wireless sort,it certainly will be worth investing in some cctv reagrdless of cost as long as it's doing what you want.Lighting is crucial for the cheaper sytems,so mak
  22. yes will look into that and possibly wire into house alarm and send text messges to alert me too, just takes a bit more time to organise it all!
  23. After my terrier chewed through umpteen wires connected to various fishtank filters, heaters and air pumps, also my wireless cctv camera which used to be situated next to my main tank, thankfully unconnected to the mains i may add since i shut it down,i set about repairing the wireless CCTV cam, and put it to use on his kennel, now i can keep an eye on him, unfortunately i was a bit late installing the cam to prevent him chewing the solar light installed previously, but never mind..I will probably site some cams higher up overlooking the kennel set up later to watch for intruders or dog thieves, her
  24. i would think you would have to set it to lower number if you want it less cold, having said that i've never read a fridge manual!Ditch you are the king of observers when it comes to everday situations and domestic appliances,i salute your bravery and courage in tackling the most mundane subjects, hope the contents of your fridge stay cool for ever, amen, Higgins.
