Cheers for the comments guys I agree about the bottom jaw - the only reason it's on the fox is to show off his pearly whites - Martin, The next nice fox I get I'll sort out for you as a 'moving in' present

Didn't know about him mate don't worry about your fox's bud - this fella is from Dorset way

An extra point over the right eye... Something in the water round these parts I think - got a more pronounced kink as well. just shy of bronze taken early May this year.

Anyway... here it is after all that - opinions good and bad appreciated

Long story cut short I'd be interested to hear what you think about a skull and brush mount for the wall in the home... would you be happy to receive one as a gift or do you think its a shit idea? I took a fox recently at a relatives wood, a dog in perfect condition. Now I wouldn't know where to start with taxidermy and certainly couldn't afford to get it done properly so decided on a compromise which I hope works... I reccon my relative would like it but basically want an excuse to keep it myself I thought I'd put up my process for those interested... I'm sure there are better methods b

He's a cracker Murph - fair play to you... Funnily enough both these beasts were taken in Wiltshire and are, by all accounts, most unusual for the area. All the bucks I have taken this year in Somerset have had very wide spans save for one (the one on the left of this pic being the narrowest) This pic has been up beofre so apologies for recycling it. Not sure whether its the same on your ground but most heads seem to have the right sided antler kinked and turning in slightly???

Far from it mate... I haven't shot many bucks but have been very lucky this season Just want to make the most of them encase my luck runs out. Not too bothered about the stats side but they help give perspective which sometimes difficult to get from a picture. As to whether they make a medal or not – that’s not what stalking’s about IMHO but must admit that that having a head make an international standard does make it that little bit extra special Moi

Beauty - Nice going Andy and good a read. Love your dog as well

Here's the pic of that tall five pointer from the other day - one side is the best part of 30cm with the other just shy of 29 and he weighs in at 549 grams ... not that I'm counting or anything. The side view... the malform just happened to get caught in the frame

That tawny looks as suprised as I was Here is the beast boiled out - very difficult to do it justice with my camera skills. Its currently 675 grams with one of the points pointing out the rear of the coronet. -
Best stalk, Best shot, Best Buck

Cheers fellas - he's boiled out and just bleaching at the moment. He does have weight and girth through the coronets and main antler stem looks great straight out the pot and can only get better Edited to say the eye was perforated and in a pretty bad way... made your stomach turn - hadn't effected his body weight too much though as he weighed in at 43 lbs. -

Cheers mate - Its the measure of the bloke that FD was just as happy as I was - a true gent Cheers bud FD says he was a stranger to the area so him being there was just blind good luck  He surely will mate Thats FD all over - the typical metrosexual 'modern man'... hard on the outside soft on the inside and fragile -

Recently Sundays have been a rather predictable DIY marathon for me so when Foxdropper phoned to ask if I was free for a late afternoon stalk I nearly ripped his arm off We arrived at the ground around 5.30pm with the weather looking a little threatening with a cool breeze and a damp smell in the air. The ground is a beef cattle farm similar to my own permission with lush rich pasture which the deer love when the cattle arn't about. The first three fields were occupied by big old units of lowing bullocks, some of which seemed intent on breaking through a damaged wire fence. We managed to fix

Brilliant - nice one bud

Ive got no problem with seeing pics of someone sausaging a fox - thats the reality of shooting with a centerfire and vermin ammunition... youre not after a trophy, youre trying to drop the fecker on the spot. As far as im concerned a lack of respect would boil down to: Not following up a bad shot Taking a shot outside your own capabilities Disposing of the slain in an appropriate way is important and common sense. The pics thing is down to personal opinion no need to feel insulted or condescended, if anything implying that those who regularly post pics on of their outings with the

Popped over to Foxdroppers the other day for a look around for a buck and then have a stroll with the lamp. After battling through nightmare M4 traffic there was just enough light to get in a lay up place in time with hope of catching a buck wandering. There were a few does milling about with twins at foot so getting about without bumping them took a little time. Just got compfy when I heard FD having a squeel from the other side of the hedge... this was followed shortly by a whistle and then a CRACK as his .222 spoke - Does bouncing everywhere and a vixen in the bag Over to another permi

The old addage 'kill one and two will go to its funeral' comes to mind. No matter how hard you hit them there will always be pockets of land where either shooting / running or trapping them isn't safe or practical. As for the guns/dogs friction its so predictable that the same (few) people will try and slag off fox / rabbit / hare shooting at any opportunity its boring Both require skill and both deserve respect. Shrug the chip off your shoulder and stop embarrassing yourselves... its pathetic.

Very nice stag Cal - Lucky man to be asked to manage a some ground like that If you're going to boil the head out I'd be interested to see some pics of it. Hope the season continues the way it started

An enjoyable stalk ending with a very nice roe buck
Yokel Matt replied to wint's topic in Deer Stalking & Management
A good morning out mate Got to love calling Nice buck -
Nice shooting - regards the ammo I used Eley for years and always had fantastic grouping... the one down side was that they seemed to lack a bit of 'thump' for the body shots - something the winnies have a bit more of, possiblt down to the much larger hollow point. The only reason I changed was because my local shot ran out of eley and I bought 1000 Winnies. Only thing I can say for certain... avoid CCI subs. Total shite
