  1. Hi there, have you got a timber yard by you? If you have you should be able to get pine shavings from there. They are brilliant, they obviuosly smell of pine, which is not a bad thing, and if you put enough in the beds they are very warm. Also if your dogs get wet, they will dry them off.
  2. I would not bother I bought A Sooty Sam bred bitch, it would not chase its tail. I would take it back. Never again.
  3. How tall is the bitch? You need to have the lamp at least a foot above the bitch when she is standing up.
  4. Hi there, there is a bottle you can get called "Cut & Heal", it is in a yellow and purple bottle. Very good. They use it on horses I think.
  5. All things being equal, what are the best bloodlines, you say that the tall ones are no good, so which are going to be the best allrounders. Are you saying that if they are bushing they will not hold a fox? I am trying myself to get hold of decent working Bedlington bloodlines, but if it going to be like his I will not bother.
  6. I agree completely, the power to overcome injury is an all important attribute in any working dog, be it terrier or lurcher. I will give you an example, I keep Welsh Terriers, for my sins. They will fight the Devil, but their recovery rate is poor, they seem to go into themselves when they have been hurt. So personally I think that Bull blood does help the recovery time. This is only my opinion, but what do I know, I have only had dogs thirty odd years.
  7. I got a mate from the Preston area that has got a pure working greyhound that is 24". She looks more like a Whippet/Greyhound.
  8. What I meant to say was the males bred that way were that size. Apologies.
  9. We use Jeyes Fluid too, it keeps the Dog Warden quiet.
  10. Hi there, I used to hunt a BeaglexHarrier, he was brilliant pefect recall, etc. Then I got a GriffonxHarrier, big mistake was stone deaf, it did exactly what it wanted to do. If its an electric collar you are after, there are only three brands worth having. Either Pacdog or Canicom or PetSafe.
  11. Unless you have a decent working dog Vet these days you are in trouble. I have spent hours on the phone trying to find a Vet that will dock pups tails, but to no avail. Obviously in the past I have done them myself with no problems. But I don't want any comebacks or uniforms knocking on my door if I can help it, I get enough greif off the Local Dog Wardens. They are like mini Hitlers around here. So what do you Dog Men out there think about trying to compile a National Tail Docking Vet Directory. Hope I am not going to come in for a lot of stick, but there you go. Any constructive feedback wou
  12. Please can Frosty Morn contact me please. I have tried PMing you, but site says you cannot accept any emails. Thanks, Welshwizard.
  13. Hi there, I would not with respect go down the turkey mince route. I have lost pups through minced fowl. You could try coley and boiled rice, we use this when we have a sickly pup or adult, and it works well. A good working dog vet also told me that Chappie is one of the best foods you can give a fussy eater. Also Prize Choice Minced Lamb and Beef are good. Also tinned Tuna is a good thing to get them eating, all my dogs go mad for it. Regards, Dave.
  14. Hi there, two dogs and a bitch, they are buckskin to fawn. Where about are you? Can you pm me if you are interested.
  15. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice regarding what to look for in a 3/4 Bull 1/4 Greyhound pup. These pups are now nine weeks old, this particular bitch is 11" tts. I have decided to keep three back, obviously I have gone for the tallest pups, as per info. There are still some tall pups left, but I have decided on the brindle ones, because the rest of the family picked them. The one in the snap seems to be the tallest bitch, going back through the bloodlines there are some 27" to 28" dogs, so I am hoping they have inherited their height. I would appreciate your comments. Thanks.P.S. Apologies
  16. Here are a couple of snaps of my Bull Crosses, they are litter brother and sister.
  17. HI there, would be interested in a bitch pup if that is at all possible.
  18. I feed all my yard dogs bones, lamb and beef are the best. Feed pork at your peril, its OK if it is fresh, but if it isn't stand well back and get a good water hose, especially in summer. I have a brilliant contact for flesh, the best is lamb rib cages and necks. they are brilliant for pups, much better than dried food, it seems to put more weight on them and it keeps them quiet. I have a litter of bull crosses on at the moment and they are gleaming. I hope this helps. YOS Dave.
  19. Hi there, I had a dog here that was bred out of a dog called "Wicker", I was looking after him for a mate from Essex. He turned out to be a demon, they also put him on a Greyhound and turned out some good dogs. Some boys came down fro the North East for a night's lamping and brought a first cross wheaten/greyhound, he was about 23". What a machine, say no more.
  20. Can anyone help me pick two pups out of a litter I have bred. This is the first litter of lurchers i have bred, so I am like a duck out of water. Also has any one out there got any pics of the finished article. Both parents are demons at hunting, I want them for general hunting basically, if anything gets up I want them to hunt it. Your input would be most appreciated, thanks.
  21. hi i'm from just outside rhyl.what exactly is the breeding of the pups? if you dont mind me asking .i,ve been told you can't kennel a lurcher [bANNED TEXT] too much bull in it with a terrier.i dont know just heard things in the past. i have no experience with bullx you see?do u have any pics? They are 3/4 bull 1/4 greyhound. I do not have a problem with kenneling, the mother is in with a whippet/greyhound bitch and a bull/greyhound dog. Having a problem sending the pictures. can you give your email address please?
  22. I got a 241/4" bitch, I have had her on the lamp a couple of times, not as good as the dog I was running her with. She has always hunted up, so she would not come back as quick. Also they tear easily. I would not get rid of her for the world though. She hunts like a hound now she is getting on.
