Or get a bull/greyhound x collie/greyhound best of both there ! Ill admit if i was looking for a dog to find course and kill fox all on its own i would be going down the collie/grey route. My old collie x only ever had 3 and he caught them in the daytime whilst hunting up.

Theres an old saying "let someone else set your nets so you can blame them when you lose your fox". Ive lost a good few out of nets double peggers singles heavy mesh lighter mesh. Its just luck mainly. Atb

some farms the collies they have right nasty feckers, 1 farm i used to go to had a black gsd with bit of collie in it, this thing would eat you no prob, was on a chain big 80lb fecker, nobody would go to the farm if he was loose, never had many poachers lol.Yes Woz his right some very nasty dogs round farms collies or collies xs I used to go ferreting on a farm with a similar type of dog. Bit loads of people until someone "cured" it with a twelve bore .....

We are out on some big land with the coursing dogs early tommorrow then lamping with the bull/greyhound. Sunday hopefully getting out with the ferrets. Atb

That to me mate isnt a proper rottie. The best ones ive seen were athletic and smart. That goes for ABs aswell. Someone said dobermans. A bailiff on one of our club waters has a couple and he says they are shit as guarders. Ive only ever heard or seen of one working and he is owned by a very good friend. Its taken him years to find one. Atb i agree with you on the athletic thing mate its a great thing to see a dog in good shape,to me thats a in good shape compared to what ive seen lol have you any pics of lean rotties?nice to see a dog who would catch a thiefing twat lol I agree its deffini

My mates into all this stuff he said something about this one will affect the next one that passes. Ive noticed this last week when out lamping weve seen atleast a dozen shooting stars wich is mad as ive only ever seen a couple in my life

Nice looking dog mate. Ive seen plenty of collie lurchers kill the odd fox but whether they could do numbers night after night is another story .... Oh and as for the catching a rabbit then a fox ? My bull/greyhound done exactly that last week. Atb

Malis are great dogs but abit too highly driven to be sat in a yard all day. I know of one with hardly any teeth as its constantly shut in a kennel and picks up anything rocks sticks and shakes it. Thats all it does apart from eat shit and sleep. This is my yard dog. American bulldog cross.

I only asked coz my collie x if he picks up one thats abit lively he carries it back like that too. I also agree about the terriers bieng crunchers. Mind you people say that about bull crosses being hard mouthed but mine ritrieves them live and well.

Old Grey Mk1 & 2 Ferret Finders Or New Mk3?
fitchet replied to vermin catcher's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
I used to have both. The mk3 takes abit of getting used too though. Aslong as the ferret gets found its all that matters i think. Im using the grey boxes at the minute as alot of my gear was stolen and the mk1 was cheaper. -
Sirius out of interest does that dog carry rabbits like that all the time ?

The matching scene has always been full of wannabes Imo. Its a shame but there is so much jealousy in this dog game some people just get eaten up by it. Ive just got back after walking some of the local big fields through. My dog killed 2 wich i am buzzing about as they are really flying at the minute. But my mate had his old dog wich is about 5 year old and i took more pleasure in seeing that dog give its all and have a good run than i did seeing mine kill his. when we sat down to give the dogs a rest We said we are out with the dogs to have the craic and test the dogs. Im lucky enough to go

Ive had a couple of american bulldog crosses. They seem to be good at keeping intruders at bay and look the part.

Go back to a saluki/greyhound mate ... Or just get a lurcherxlurcher. Nice bitch you had there too. Atb

I have one here that is 9. Still done me proud this season ..

All 4 dogs i have here have a time when they come in handy on certain type of land. The best one ive had by far though was a collie/greyhound beddie/whippet. Hes the only one id call a ferreting dog but as i said the others have a time and a place.

All that about dogs getting confused between sheep and deer ? Bullshit imo EVERY dog ive had knew the difference and would totally ignore sheep. On abit of land ive got there is an old railway bank with sheep fields either side. Weve had dogs course muntjac straight through the middle of them and they have returned not even looked at the sheep. Best of luck with ya pup mate.

When they were round here last they were saying about the coursing books on the shelf. Allways a good idea to put these away as they had a good look through them. Now obviously like most people i have some medical stuff here for the dogs. I was told by one of the eejits it was illegal to not take my dog to the vets if it was injured ? Can anyone tell me what the law is on this as i thought you could treat your dogs and even put them to sleep yourself aslong as the animal is not suffering unnescarily ?

Hes not talking to you ......

Never bothered with bunnies but done a fair bit with hares. Sometimes they stay and do well and sometimes they dont ....

Calm down lads its only the internet. Look how many posts theres been about these two dogs its f***ing ridiculous there are videos popping up left right and centre. There is unbilivieble amounts of jealousy in this game. Instead of bitching and fighting get out with the dogs its nearly the end of the season. Also im not into matching or running against other people but if i was ... Thl is the last place id advertise it on ... Get out with the dogs and have some sport instead of worrying about shit that doesnt concern you. All the best

Some really sad people about ....

I went out saturday night with a shitty open sighted gun as it was too foggy for dogs. In an hour id shot about a dozen birds ..... And i quite enjoyed it. Reminded me of my "airsporter" days ...
