  7. Good to see hes still getting grafted. Nice looking dog. Atb
  8. Im in the same situation mate my missus wants me to get her a shar pei. Ive had a few "pet" dogs an there companionship is enough. I used to have a little chihouha quality lil dog used to teach him allsorts. Id only keep working dogs these days. Atb
  9. in some cases they are more than % bull greyhound anyway So why the need for the mastiff or whatever ? Atb i wasnt looking for a lurcher i worked away for a year and wanted a dog that would guard and protect giving me peace of mind was reeces billy a well known bull grey not part great dane Fair enough. Atb
  10. Lol this ban will never be overturned imo. I think soon it will all be banned fishing, shooting the lot. Atb
  11. in some cases they are more than % bull greyhound anyway So why the need for the mastiff or whatever ? Atb
  12. Do you fellers that keep these dogs find that they have anything over a good bull/greyhound ? They are fine looking animals. Atb
  13. Well done fellas brilliant bag. Atb
  14. Exactly mate they spend too much time bitching. f*****g grow up and worry about your own dogs.
  15. The most ive seen killed by one dog in the daytime is 3. And that takes some doing. I used to run hares on the lamp most of the time but seeing as i now have loads of permission and better dogs id rather save them for the daytime. Even my bull cross can kill them on the lamp ...
  16. A dog with more greyhound in it than saluki seem to make brilliant allrounders. Ive had collie/greyhounds but the saluki/ grey is a different animal altogether if they are reared correctly. I dont like the "desert dog" atitude though that is the only downside to them. Mine has done all ive asked. Atb

    boxing day

Boxing day Ill get this young saluki type out on the big fields with the hawk. If all goes well Then ill go to me girlfriends and have a few drinks. Atb
  18. I aint talking about whats a better method im answering the posters qestion. But for the record most times i go out we use pursenets/longnets and dogs. But using the shotty can be a good method ferret in no disturbance on the warren and ALOT of ground can be covered QUICKLY. Like you said each to there own. Atb
  19. Cant see it having too much effect. I do alot of shooting over ferrets and rabbits bolt like a dream most of the time. And a 12 bore is ALOT louder than any yap. Atb
  20. Happens regurly round here with deer. No way for any animal to die imo. Fair play TOMO. Atb
  21. The couple of permissions i have wont entertain lurchers on the land. so i use a beddy its all in woodland strips. the dog has been brought up with ferrets from a pup no problems. he gets to a net much quicker than me and just holds the rabbit no damage to the rabbit or net and he marks very well. if i had good ground and permission it would be a lurcher every day of the week. but beggars cant be choosers sometimes unfortunatly. I personally only go ferreting with either a dog or shotgun. I dont get alot of enjoyment just using longnets/purse nets. Horses for courses really feller. Atb
  22. Trust me feller they are more than capable enough ......
  23. For me mate i dont see the point in taking terriers out. Imo most have an atitude that can be dangerous around ferrets. I have one that i take when we are ferreting at the pig farm to mop up any rats that bolt. Apart from that i dont see any need for them whilst ferreting ?? Atb
  24. Ive only ever seen 3 saluki xes on fox. One kept grabbing its tail but avoided the sharp end and the other two killed them without any fuss. Alot of lads with this type dont allow there dogs on them but im sure most will take the odd one. Wouldnt go as far to say they could do a hard season foxing though. Atb
  25. pop guns rely on the skill of the user to do the job, not some other animal to do the work to make up for the shortcomings of the owner, easier to point a lamp than a gun Lol you dont have a clue feller. Wish it was as easy as that. Hunters getting put off by bad weather. Whatever next .......
