  1. Very good advice mate, and you do have one thing in your favour, you are prepared to offer some work in return, get knocking mate, honestly lad you will not get permission asking on a hunting forum,it WILL NOT HAPPEN.good luck.
  2. Bet they are breaking the door down with ready signed permission slips!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Dont be so bloody silly, must be a wind up.
  4. Very valid point, all I do if I fancy a bunny for supper, is sit and watch them and shoot the buck as he chases the doe around, in fact that is exactly what I did last night, but was shooting with my .22rf so I accept it is slightly easier than with an air rifle, but still possible with patience.
  5. My thoughts exactly, however you can of course have your .22wmr semi auto, but not the hmr.
  6. Honestly mate is this a wind up? every week people on here ask about getting permission, did you really expect to be inundated with offers of land to shoot on ???? get off your backside and get some yourself my freind, you have a snowball in hells chance asking on here.
  7. Ay up kidda if you want, txt me if you still got my number I changed my phone and lost yours, I should be able to sort you something out from my mates shop.
  8. Totally different animals mate, the hmr is a pop gun compared with a .223 the hmr will kill foxes at close range, but is not really suitable,it is far better suited to popping bunnies and crows, they suffer terribly from wind drift and make just as much noise as a .223 and of course you cant shoot deer with a hmr, you can with your .223, Roe in scotland, muntjac and water deer in England and wales, if you reload the .223 then not too expensive, might I suggest an alternative if you dont want to shoot deer, a .22 hornet cheap to reload, very accurate, and with the right ammo will drop charlie out
  9. Yes mate one or two,me and the Seeker are in Gedney drove end wildfowlers club, and you mate do you share our passion for muddy holes and light gamebags
  10. well all i can say is I use a 26inch benelli, for just about everything, absolutely brilliant gun, I personally dont like the dead feeling you get from gas semis, I have used 28grms--- 50grm 3 inch mags in mine recoil not a problem at all,my advice, buy it you wont go wrong mate, whatever you do dont touch the hatstand.
  11. Oh no, what have you done? You really shouldn't go around putting ideas in their heads! Seriously though, one FEO says that you can't another says "yeah, that's fine". Who should we believe? My understanding is the same as A&S, but apparently Wilts see it differently. I can't see how their POV is tenable under the existing law, but why should we believe A&S over Wilts? It dovetails nicely with our belief, but we must beware of "confirmation bias" when seeking advice. Why believe the pov that backs up our own over one that opposes it? You can see now how completely idiotic f
  12. Thank f--k that is sorted what a load of crap.
  13. Absolutely nothing wrong with Lee stuff mate, you will no doubt get reloading snobs telling you to buy RCBS or Lyman ect,Lee will do everything you need,I would get a set of deluxe dies, they contain a full length die and a neck sizer also, so you have the choice, I get superb results using lee neck sizing dies and reloading cases fired in my rifle, the collet/neck sizing die does not require lubricating and I have some cases on their 6th reload with no probs, and superb accuracy, at first dont go spending a fortune on a press, I use a lee hand press with great results, have fun mate and let us
  14. Im suprised at that mate looks like it would have touched the spine, but of course I was not there, just out of intrest mate ,what cal did you shoot him with?
  15. Agree mate but im only repeating what the feo told me in conversation and as a laymen i am going to believe it arnt i .It may be something to do with the current deer poaching that is going on .If hes lying or made it up then he will be brought to task i can assure you as another mate with more time and persistance has just been told the same . Edited to say that its not my intention to mislead anyone just reporting what was said to me by my own feo. I really cant believe what I am reading, the FEO that has told you that must be on some personal crusade to make himself feel/appear more i
  16. I have a .22 hornet conditioned for fox, and a.243 conditioned for fox also, dont know about Wiltshire but its no problem having more than one rifle round my way.
  17. My enemys enemy is my freind, I guess , feck that is one hell of a cat.
  18. Very well put indeed,a breath of fresh air
  19. Ah, Hz, you seem to be asking the same question over and over again,IE what is a bad shot and what is a good one, might I suggest that if you need me to explain that to you perhaps stalking really is not for you, a trip to the golf shop may be in order, at no time have I extolled the virtues of a .243 over a .308, I have merely said that a .243 will do the job, and whilst carrying on your rather blinkered and pedantic diatribe, you seem to have not only ignored most everything else I have said on the subject, but detracted from the original point of the discussion,to offer advice and support t
  20. You have already said that, so how exactly does bullet placement differ if you are using a larger bullet? I am keen to know how bullet placement differs from a .243 and a .308 to achieve a clean kill. You stated that "a .243 with a well placed 100 grn bullet will drop Fallow no problem" to make such a statement I presume that you are an experienced deer stalker and as such should have no problem explaining how a shot from a .243 will differ from a shot taken using a .308. Are you suggesting that stalkers who use a larger calibre of rifle, do so to make up for poor accuracy in their s
  21. Garbage use it as a hatstand and buy a Benelli
  22. I have read this statement many times across forums and have always been interested but have never asked. What exactly is a well placed shot and what would a badly placed shot be? How would this differ from a well placed .308 bullet and a badly placed .308 bullet? A well placed .22rf bullet will kill a deer but a poorly placed "any bullet" will not, no matter what calibre it is. Seems like arm chair twaddle to me. Bullet placement no matter what calibre you choose to use is paramount. John My point being that if you use a .243 to shoot the larger species of deer, bullet placement
  23. The police cannot demand dsc1 or anything else for that matter to grant a deer legal rifle,if they do speak to basc ect, unless of course you wish to do dsc,you have experience with a .223 so moving up to a .243 for instance providing you can show good reason to posess, should be a simple variation,in actual fact .240 is the smallest deer legal calibre for Roe,Reds,Fallow, Sika in England and wales,a .243 with a well placed 100 grn bullet will drop Fallow no problem,I have seen Muntjac run after a hit with a .308,but bullet placement is more important with a .243 than the bigger calibres, also be
  24. Scarecrow you forgot to say the land has to be cleared for the calibre used Not if you have an open cert it does not.
