  1. I know mate, just me being a clever git, lol, an hour is that all?
  2. Very good advice, I did much the same as a young lad, I remember being told to return when I was older and had a shotgun, well that is what I did and he remembered me and gave me permission, so stick at it kidda, you will get there.
  3. Nothing like making your own gear for next to nothing mate, can't fault you, good luck with the testing, with that group, I would have thought a 1/2" group should not be impossible @200yards.
  4. I trust you have the little darling back now, thought you had a Harris not a redtail lol
  5. I like your thinking. So lets understand this, you say you like his thinking, ok fair enough, are you agreeing with his statement that it is more or less only acceptable to kill something if it first knows it is in danger? Instead of going about its business without a care in the world then its stone dead, and then and only then it is "sport" so in other words then you only find it acceptable to kill a fox for "sport" not pest control? Ridiculous, that kind of statement plays right into the hands of the antis, because ultimately what you are saying is you are enjoying killing, rather than
  6. Cheers I am sure it will have me, if not pulling it out at least tugging on my hair but I will get there, will keep you posted.
  7. If you are trying to get .22-250 or .220 swift performance from your .223 for instance then its not going to happen, the foxes wont care a jot if your load is 200 fps slower, they will still be just as dead, just work up a nice accurate load, and practice, learn what it does at given ranges, and adjust your aim accordingly.
  8. I know mate, this will be the first red I have trained, so I am expecting it to be a little more testing than a Harris, but fireworks once he's going, and really looking foreward to lamping him as my mates was dynamite on the lamp, and deceptively fast.
  9. Good group there mate, your rifle obviously likes Sierra bullets, (not seen many that don't to be honest) for your 200, yards test, try using some electrical tape placed into a cross on a white backround use as much as you need to correspond with the size of your crosshairs at that range, get on the bipod with a rear support and hold steady on the centre of the cross, looking good that mate.
  10. It is ok if your load data states compressed load, usually has a C ata the side of the figures, otherwise I would stay well away personally.
  11. Yes me too, just have to bite my lip and keep my cool until it all kicks into place with the stubborn sod, then there should be no stopping him, if he is like my mates male red he had once he got the idea OMG the thing was a killing machine I am really looking forward to hitting the bushytails with him.
  12. Well as some of you guys know I will be training a male redtail this year, I am due to pick him up on saturday and the other good news is, I phoned a couple of old permissions that I havent been on for a good while, yes I am still welcome and they are hopping with rabbits so I cant wait to get him going, before the dreaded myxy rears its ugly head, I will put some photos up when I get him and update on his progress, and all the sitting under trees I do lol.
  13. f***ing scum the lot of them, I hope your mate takes them to the cleaners.
  14. I would be inclined to push the,(Im sure you would be more interested in them going to a good home than price) line of enquiry.
  15. I can help you with the fox tail mate if you pm me your number, cheers.
  16. I have no experience with shooting deer but why would you not want to eat Munjac or Roe?. Honest question. Don't like venison TBH and there are no game dealers in my area. It was hypothetical as I don't hold an FAC atm. Question more for the future as I have a permission in mind and amongst the problems are deer attacking a small plantation of trees. Haven't seen the deer in question but have seen some Muntjac in the area. i am assuming the location on your profile is incorrect if you are seeing muntjac No his profile is correct, there are a few muntjac east Sheffield/Doncaster
  17. Well I am afraid that not everyone understands it that way, some people seem to think shooting a fox is some kind of sin punishable by summary execution, only a dog may harm a hair on his noble head,I completely agree that all animals should be left to breed and I certainly don't shoot any until the cubs are fending for themselves, for fear of shooting a vixen with cubs at milk,of course nobody wants to see an end to the fox, least of all me,and I wish the hunting ban could be repealed tomorrow, and as for lurchers well I love them and I can say hand on heart that I can train to a very high stand

  19. Well said that man, we are talking about bloody foxes after all, in the grand scheme of things there are a lot more important things to get wound up about, and as I have said before divided we fall and all that
  20. Probably quite good if he clubs them with it
  21. I quite agree what on earth do you want one of those abominations for? Is it for plinking and/or target shooting? Or hunting? Because if its the latter it will be dreadfully inaccurate compared with a decent bolt action or quality semi auto, and to be honest I would not want to walk around with something that resembled an m16 ect, just asking for trouble mate
  22. +1 on the Howa/Weatherby mate superb rifles, in fact the best value rifles in the country
