  1. Yea so many skills lost to history. I remember that old TV program, HANDS. What skillful people they had on there.
  2. Very good laddie! So many old tools that aren't used much in today's world.
  3. When it comes to cats. Their shear ability to catch and kill things, makes colour a none factor. If a white cat can kill as much stuff, as a black one, then a dominant colour doesn't come through. Well not on a big scale. Locally, yes, black may be the common colour in your gaf, but not necessarily in mine.
  4. Getting back to the trapping. Must be hard catch moles there Nicepix, with all those dykes about?
  5. One things for sure. You didn't catch her Beaver?
  6. Ken, get those traps out. We wanna see them. ?
  7. It really fascinates me the vast array of trap designs that are out there. Not only vintage traps, but modern ones too. Some very clever individuals, thinking up all sorts of idea's, and most work very well, when it comes to catching, and killing things. Here is a Canadian trap, that is very interesting to look at. I don't believe they were in production for very long, so are very much sought after these days. It's called the Gabry Bionic Trap, which is ratcheted. You can increase the power of the trap, by literally winding it up. I'm almost sure the inventer makes the Belisle conibear
  8. Welcome aboard. Your not alone. I'm a vegan at least one day a week.
  9. Yea I suggested that would be a good idea from there. Anyhow, here it is. Nice little video
  10. Such a god dalm pity, because that would have been one hell of a book. Twenty years time, there might not even be a Fenn trap. There might not even be a British designed or made spring trap any more. Where did it all go wrong?
  11. That's just proving everyone else's point ?
  12. Such a pity, nothing came of it fella. Sounds like there was a lot of work put into gathering and gaining information for the book.
  13. What I will say laddie is, if it wasn't worth your while going back for the camera, then it wasn't worth your while sticking it up here, without the pictures. You'll be eaten without salt at every opportunity, in this gaff.? I believe you by the way. Can see it as a very possible situation, but never seen it myself personally.
  14. Thanks for sticking up that link laddie. I will have a good look at it later when I have some free time, cheers!?
  15. Made this for the wife. Had to store the birch for almost a year before actually making the thing.
  16. You should stick the trap one up on "Old Traps" thread in the trapping section laddie. It would fit in there nicely?
  17. Isn't it amazing. Least popular traps at the time, becomes most sought after traps, a few decades later
  18. Nice write up Wolfdog. Those snares, apart from the size difference, are very similar to a mink snare. Actually a buddy of mine sent me over some mink snares made from 1×19 cable. Those snares were lightening fast, and worked very well on mink
  19. Nearly pissed myself when I heard this ?
