  3. Its a book for a books sake......... anyone whos thinking of gaining the knowledge to start longnetting from this book will start off with a lot of miss-information and have a lot of ingraind faults befor they start. We all know how easy it is to go out and buy a long net set up ready rigged, take it to your local field holding rabbits and catch a few. This book will tell you this but it also leaves out so much more than it tells you. Ok longnetting isnt the "Black art" it was once thought to be, but if your going to give it a go at least try it in a proper manner. Correct me if im
  4. had a hazle peg snap on me once when i was pushing down hard upon it, done a lovely job of sticking me right in the love spuds
  5. thats the reason why you have only 1 mouth and 2 fists. should have been swinging rather than talking hope your ok mate and i hope your ego wasnt to badly bruised in fronte of your partner

  7. the ultra is a lovely accurate gun but because of its length i myself pull it off target, more the shooter at fault than the gun. given time i suppose i would improve
  8. both are easy to do, but hard to explain on a pc screen. 1, attach your twine coming from your neddle to the last mesh knot on one edge. 2, pass the neddle up through the first mesh on the other net, leaving the same length of twine as mesh requiered and throw a knot (half hitch) as normal but pass the neddle through the loop twice for extra security. 3, now pass the needle back to the other net and repeat the process all the way to the top of the net, working in a zig zag fashion. to repair a hole its the same princerpal once you have cut out the dammaged meshes. hope this
  9. Even if the ground was rough and required a little bit of fine tuning the quickset should be twice as fast at least. For 100 yards i would expect it down in under a minute, A 100yrd net set in under 1min ? I have set nets for yrs on both flat football pitches as well as shity tiger grass laced beaches and i find this statement about laying a 100yrd net in under a min bloody amazing, if not a little outstanding. That said the netter must place and insert each peg, walk the 5 yrds between that peg and the next, take hold of the following peg and again place the peg ect ect ect spe
  10. COMPO.. its funny what you say about your netting mate being no quicker with a basket than you are with the traditional set of nets and end pins. I personaly feel that what the basket system has given folk is an easy route into long netting. what i meen by this is unlike most sportsman of only a few yrs ago, the youngsters of today dont seem to have either a father or relertive who will take them under their wing. I was lucky enough to have met an old gentleman who was willing to teach a 12 yr old the netting skills that made up the foundation of what i know today. Its strange that in todays
  11. a purse net is a personal thing regarding how long and by how many meshes wide. but a general rule of thumb is 3ft 6inch and 4ft nets being the averidge size by 14,16, or 18 mesh wide. then the the larger poke nets come into play. OF COURSE EACH FERRETER HAS THEIR PREFERED NET SIZE, THIS IS JUST A GENERAL OVERVIEW OF NET SIZE.
  12. Arh but............ have you got hair growing out of your ears and nose whilst the hair on your head is thinning badly?
  13. SIZE 12........... now your just bragging you know what thay say about men with big feet? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . BIG SHOES........
  14. I myself have also lost an uncle to a drink driver. i was only 8 when this happened, but even now i can still see my mums face as she was told the news. that was 30yrs ago now but my mum has never lost any of her pain, each yr on his birthday she is in bits ,as well as the date it happened. Dont folk realise that their actions have very long term effects on inocent peoples lives? SELFISH ACTIONS BY SELFISH PEOPLE.

Ash is also a very nice material to use. why not try willow? its everywhere you have a river and its very light. bit more whippy than hazle when green but stiff when seasoned.

  18. HA HA HA....... you think your bad I had a day out with a mate of mine and shot 35birds for 100plus shots, now thats bad....... Mind you it was my first time shooting in anger at a live quarry with a 12bore.
  19. its good to see that now we are mebers of the EU that slave labour works no matter where your from. whats her weekly wage? 2 pepsi's and a large mars bar per day?
  20. I use one everyday of my working life for mole work. I couldnt do my job without it. i use one in ferreting as well. It has a nice shape teat on the end that give me a very positive feel when im into a mole/rabbit tunnel
  21. Just wondering how many of you ferreting folk still use the good old probe whilst out ferreting? I know with the advancement in locators some say there spot on, others say there a mile off. Thats not what im looking for. How many still use a probe to help compliment the use of their choosen locator? I for one find them a godsend when digging deep as its a little to easy to loose the tube by no more than an inch or two. PLEASE LETS NOT TURN THIS INTO A SLAGGING MATCH OVER CERTAIN PRODUCTS AIMED AT THE LOCATION OF FERRETS
