  1. Ferret15, i dont think it was heat exhaustion, plenty of water, plenty of moving air within their quaters, as for fleas and not noticing them, well their both albino jills and seeing as i handled them less than 5 hours before hand im sure i would have noticed. I make a point of handling my ferrets many times a day, if im not there the 2 boys have them out and play with them all the time. I have a real thing against fleas and this is something i look for each day, as well as regularly bathing the ferrets then i comb them with a fine tooth flea comb. if it was fleas surly there would be some
  2. T3... as i said before, this time of year i feed dry food any the meat i feed is done in the following manner. I place a small piece of meat in their carrying box then put 2 ferets in at a time, leave for 5 mins and whats not eaten is binned. i do this with all of them as i hate flys with a passion. AT NO TIME IS MEAT PLACED WITHIN THEIR QUATERS SO AT NO TIME WILL THEY COME INTO CONTACT WITH WARM UNCOOKED MEAT OR THAT WHICH HAS BEEN LAYING AROUND. Sorry to hear you have also lost your hob this is why its a little perplexing
  3. nice couple of healty rabbits there sod feeding them to the ferrets, get them in a nice stew or a lovely home cooked pie. nothing beats getting a free meal like you say from natures larder, its also great to get out with the nets. well done.
  4. DITCH. After a bad nights sleep i woke and first thing i did was check the remaining ferrets, all well and full of beans as normal. couldnt sleep as this episode was on my mind all night thinking what it was and could it have been something ive done or havnt done so to speak. Ive had livestock all my life so ive seen my fair share of death and destruction so to speak, hell try working on a sheep farm with 1800 head of sheep. After the suggestion of mozzie bites ive done the grusome thing of digging up their bodys this morning and gone over them with a fine tooth comb looking for mozie bites.
  5. from the end of their working colder months(march) to the start of their working season(october) they are feed on dry food only, apart fron the small pieces of meat that they are put into their carring boxes to eat. after a short while if its not eaten its binned there and then. Because of the way their fed and so on cant be botchalism.
  6. i checked their gums and tounge to see if their was any oxy debt but nice and pink as normal. maybe as they droped they couldnt scratch and the fleas were unable to be scratched off? i dont know. amemia would have resulted from flea infestation before deathsurely? as their hutch mates are and were fle free i doubt if it would have been that, unless im thinking on the wrong wavelength.
  7. ......to this coming season. Fed the stinkers this morning and all was well. All 7 came out of their hutch bounding a full of joy. about 5 hours late the wife tells me a ferret is stuck behind its climbing tree within its hutch. When i look its not stuck but in a realy poorly state, as was another jill. I have seen this bofore in my ferrets about 5 yrs ago. I tried allsorts last time to keep them alive but sadly they just got worse and demised what can only be described as a miserable death. with this being the second time ive witnessed this i chose to end their suffering. When i picked
  8. Alimac, are you a parent or not? either way you seem to me to be an inteligent adult human being, someone who knows the ways of this world. of course you know and have seen how grotty the world is at times. you must do or you wouldnt have posted the above comment. with this in mind i have to ask a simple question. As a worldly pair of adults would the Mcanns not have known how the modern world is?, would they or should they have not been more on their gaurd in a country so far removed from our own?
  9. if so many of us are thinking there guilty through their actions or their manner, at a time when most would be in bits and un-able to even talk. and when their collness is so missplaced, how can we all be so guilty of miss reading the sights before us?
  10. just to add fuel to a very emotive fire im going to say whats on my mind. if i offend anybody im sorry. firstly who would leave a 3yrd old and their younger twins brother/sister in a room out of view and earshot and go sitting drinking the night away? it would be bad enough to do this in your own house in your own county where you know the local area as well as the local temprement of its residents. come on folks, this is not your averidge (?) behavour of a couple in their mid 30s -40s, this is the actions of a your foolish couple. whilst listening to the news on the radio today there ar

  21. what size net you looking for? may be able to do a deal
  22. bet they go fast, something for next to nothing. how much would the postage be, any ideas?
  23. some view that is spun nylon nets handle and work in a differant manner to z twist nets. what i meen by work differant is they dont seem to get caught on every piece of twig, nettle and thistle like the lighter z twines do. most who have used doth types see the ztwist in a differant light once they have used the spun nylon nets. spun nylon has a wooly feel to it, much like hemp only its harder wearing and needs a lot less care after use. Its because of this wooly make up its a real joy to make nets from, both long nets and purse nets, it only needs a single knot rather than a double know
  24. maybe theres something not of this earth hiding in the woods
